We have been here for 3 years and I have been very happy with the IEP teams, teachers, therapists, etc. Everyone really seems to want to work together. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: TM McKenna > > Sent: 2/27/2008 8:46:23 AM > Subject: Re: [ ] Local systems with great programs for Autism > > > The attached list relates to schools and preschools for children with autism, which is a great resource. It still leaves a question that is looming for us: which public school districts provide good services for children on the spectrum. For instance, in our case, we want our high functioning daughter to be fully integrated with typical children, with support (i.e. an aide) as needed. We do not want a school district to dismiss her as beyond hope, or a school district that will set her goals and standards so low that she'll never reach what we think could be her potential. Information related to that would be most appreciated. > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: DMHelmick7@... > Sent: Feb 26, 2008 8:44 PM > > Subject: Re: [ ] Local systems with great programs for Autism > > > Hi Kiersten, > > Here is a copy of the attachement which has the schools listing from the site, there's 4 pages. All of the ACC centers have ST and OTs on site. My son Davey really thrived with ACC in their home based program when he was just beginning. (back then it was a pilot program that had been covered by a grant - We were very fortunate for that). Also, some parents have replied about their great schools as well. Guest guest
Brecksville/Broadview Hts -- We recently moved back to Ohio and chose the Broadview Hts area for family reasons and have found that the public school was an added bonus. Our son is in first grade, is high functioning and walked into the school as if he'd been there for years...they make it very warm and comfortable for all children. We've been happy with our experience so far and have found that the principal and staff have really worked hard to get to know our son. Hope that helps. ----- Original Message ----From: Becky <rwulfe@...> Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 11:19:38 AMSubject: Re: [ ] Local systems with great programs for Autism Hudson City Schools are great - which is why I moved here. There's 8 schools listed with an index and description for each All of the schools listed have autism programs. (That I've heard of). For her children's age group I would say the Achievement Centers are among the best as they tend to focus on early intervention with speech and OT. All of the ACC centers have ST and OTs on site. My son Davey really thrived with ACC in their home based program when he was just beginning. (back then it was a pilot program that had been covered by a grant - We were very fortunate for that). Anyway, go ahead and download the file and keep a copy at your office as well and pass on the list to the family in need. Guest guest
For those that are having issues getting too many messages or single messages.. you can always click on " Edit Membership " which is found just above the dark blue line that states the Group Name. In that edit membership area you can then change the delivery of how you get messages.. this is something you can do on your own in any group that you belong to without having to have group owners do it. You can choose between individual messages, which from your posts is what I'm guessing your acct is set at.. to something like a daily digest which will send either daily or once 25 messages have been posted to the group... or to receive only special notices or no email at all... Hope this helps! > > > > could you help me? I am on the autism web site b/c I have a brother who > > is autistic. I am also geting mt masters in Special Ed.
