Do you have to be a member to get to the complaints part? I didn't see it

listed.

Thanks. At least Texas is fewer than California and Florida. But I noticed

Hawaii only had one and I know of a family that had to take the school to court

twice just herself. I just found out today that he (the son with autism) is in

private school this time. The first time they had a reporter follow the case.

The principal tried to throw the reporter out of the IEP - when parents can have

anyone in that they want to - and they took them to court. The second time they

had pictures of abuse that showed up on POLOROIDS, so you know how deep the

bruises were. He's non-verbal, only echolalic and about 7 or 8.

So, I take sites like that with a grain of salt.....depends on how vocal parents

are. If we would all submit complaints, I guess it would be more

representative. Just because Texas was less than California, doesn't mean it's

better. I guess I'll just pray for the right decision.

Thanks....

We are only considering San Diego because that's the hospital that he would have

gone to had he needed his surgery while here. I guess you just MAKE it work. I

did so hope that I could find a state where I didn't have to fight.....now click

ROFLMBO Loriann! California special Ed departments just got handed I forget

how much in surplus money but lets see the school districts eat it up in ways

that our kids never ever see...I have not heard of one state that made life

easy on us parents, but if anyone out there has, please by all means let all

of us know! ;) I think my husband could transfer there as long as American

Airlines flies there ;)

Well, he's doing marvelously, appetite is down, so the weight gain is curbed for

a bit. Our problem is that now the doc thinks he's celiac disease (allergic to

gluten - wheat, oats, barley and rye) and not autistic at all. I may ask the

Psychiatrist if we can wean him off all drugs and see how he is after we get him

back on the gf diet. Have to be back on gluten for 3 months to do a biopsy of

his intestine to prove he's celiac.

As the diagnoses turn.

Hopefully every thing will be done by then. We have to put gluten powder in his

food for 3 months, then his intestines will be " damaged " again and we can do a

biopsy to prove he's celiac. AFTER we get the celiac diagnosis, we'll go to a

well known Autistic doctor here for a full re-assessment, compliments of the

state of Hawaii. I don't look forward to 3 months of spaced out kid, though.

Lori, the neuro. guy says since 's EEG was normal back in March, he is

against having an MRI/CAT scan done on , since it requires anesthesia,

and he seriously doubts 's got any seizure prob's......funny, how the

antiseizure med's were the only effective ones for (for a little while

anyway!).

Boy, I'm really posting a lot lately......hope I don't bore youse guys too

P.S. by the way, someone asked if 's still on Risperal....a resounding

Ray had a negative effect on Risperdal too. It caused constant

movement, weight gain and more violence than we have had before or after

using it. He did sleep better on it than anything else. Peggy

Lori......Forget waiting for your doctor to call back. Go to the E.R.

immediately. Maybe the loss of blood is just a warning of what is about to

happen.

I don't want to scare you but at the same time, I do. I feel that this is

nothing to wait upon. Get your tush out the door now!

Lori...I am not a " suer " by nature. I did ask an attorney if I had

any recourse because my family was pushing it...they were mad! He

said allergic reactions per se are not malpractice because you

survive them with no residual damamge. He also said if I went 180

(his words) my family would be rich. The hospital billed me for the

extra three hours, anesthesiologist, and respiratory care. I called

them and told them I would pay the bill up to the point they tried

to kill me...they agreed! Trudy.

Hi Joy and All,

We are fine at the moment. Our initial plan was to leave but there are

no hotel rooms in Dallas, Austin, or San (I checked). Then we

thought we'd just start driving west but until an hour ago traffic was

pretty much not moving (cars are running out of gas and

over-heating....100 deg. here yesterday, 98 today) and I didn't like the

idea of driving with no place to go. So, this morning I thought I'd try

to find a hotel room here in Houston so as least if our house floods we

could be higher than ground floor. After several trys, I found a forth

floor room very nearby. The hotel just called and asked if there was

any way that I could cancel my reservation due to the storm. I, of

course, said no and that I need to get above ground level. He said all

other new reservations were being canceled and I said I would have to

ask for an exception. He said " ok, bye " so I am taking that as my

reservation is still good and we will be there at check-in time

tomorrow. The guests already there are staying so they aren't

completely closing down. We may have an argument to deal with but we

will be staying there. :P

I'll let y'all know how we do. Thanks for checking on us!

Hi Y'all,

All is well here. Spent the night at Best Western and came home at

about 2pm today. The electricity went out at the hotel at 7:30am

today and ours was out when we got home but is on now. Our neighbor

said it went off about 6:30am. thinks they were temporarily

diverting power to critical areas (med center, etc) per news reports

because the storm was over by then. The hotel manager was kind

enough to put the elevator on emergency power so I could get

downstairs. We had a small breakfast while trying to decide what to

do next. It was still uncertain whether the rain would start again.

After we got home and the power went on, the transformer behind our

house started smoking and sparking after the electricity went on.

called 911 and the fire departmet came within five minutes

(wow). They said it was ok and that CenterPoint would come soon.

They did and fixed it. It was scary but was quickly over. So all

is well now.

We were very lucky the storm moved to the east during the evening

and night. I was pretty nervous for a while.

So here we are...home sweet home...thank goodness.

Thank you all for the thoughts and concern. :-)
