Where: The Beachland Ballroom at 15711 Waterloo Rd., Cleveland TIM EASTON Biography Raised in Akron, OH, alt-country singer/songwriter Tim Easton was influenced by a combination of pop icons (the Beatles, Kiss) and bluegrass/folk legends (Doc , Prine). Kosher Spears, his college band from his days at Ohio State, performed their unique roots rock hybrid across the Midwest, and Easton eventually found himself busking in the streets of Paris, London, and Dublin. From the streets of Prague where people casually drop the phrase “Before the revolution…” or the wilds of Alaska where young men can be lured into too much escapism or the gutters of Amsterdam, where a psychedelic hangover feels strangely comfortable, Easton sends postcards home in the form of honest songs, honestly recorded. They’re not all pretty pictures, but sensitive ears will hear someone assembling the courage and fortitude to change things that must be changed. In the battles of life, Easton says, songs themselves can be "Ammunition," the name of his latest release on New West Records. Tim also paints, exclusively featuring guitars in his work. One of these paintings can be seen on tonight's benefit poster - click here for a peek. You can listen to Tim's music at www.timeaston.com and also on the radio if you tune in today to WCPN at Noon. Here's the link: http://www.wcpn.org/index.php/WCPN/an/2008/02/29/ Tim is also featured in this week's Scene Magazine: http://music.clevescene.com/2008-02-27/music/akron-native-tim-easton-sees-the-world-one-gig-at-a-time/ GREG HARPER Biography Greg Harper is our opening act tonight at the Beachland. A native of San Angelo, Texas, doesn't write songs, he writes stories. Most folks don't have to wait long to get caught up in then and drift back in time to a home town, an old friend lost or an old lover they'd all but forgotten. Influenced by the work of folks like Townes Van Zandt, Guy , Shake , and Prine to name a few, singer/songwriter G.S. Harper is making a name for himself at live music venues across the country. His songwriting, unique voice, and soulful delivery are taking him just about everywhere an indie songwriter would like to go.
