Guest guest
I would pay attention to what they told me and try the Iodoral. If you can remedy the leaky gut, you may find that your need for thyroid meds disappears. You do not have to start with high doses.Linn On Feb 9, 2011, at 4:25 PM, miniemom wrote: I have been hypothyroid for 17 years and have been on synthroid the entire time. In the last 2 years my health has rapidly deteriorated. I have ended up with numerous food sensitivities, presumably due to leaky gut. I am more fatigued than I was and have several other issues going on - memory loss, muscle weakness, digestive problems, etc, etc. I did a saliva cortisol test and did find my adrenals to be somewhat fatigued. Not as bad as I thought fortunately. My thyroid is also very low - both free T3 and TSH. I am seeing a new doctor and nutritionist who seem to understand all of this, but they are hesitant to put me on any new thyroid meds just yet because they believe that the root cause of all my issues is the leaky gut which may have been caused by unknown celiac disease. I now avoid all gluten, dairy, soy, corn, sugar, starches, grains, and a few others. Anyway, they are running a NutrEval test from Genova Diagnostics before prescribing anything. They have, however, suggested that I start with a small dose of Iodoral - 1/2 of a 12.5 mg tablet. Will this small dose even do anything? I do take 200 mcg selenium every day and also supplement with sea salt for adrenal support. Is there anything else I should be concerned about with starting the Iodoral? Thanks for any input!
