Guest guest
There isn't any documentation that is why the doctors were discussing the safety during pregnancy at the Iodine conference. This was back in 2007 and I am sure there is more knowledge now but unfortunately there has not been another conference where the "meeting of the minds" has occurred again. We do know that people are more toxic than originally thought which is evidenced by the large bromide numbers we are seeing in testing. If there is concern about bromide release a serum level can be taken. The RDA is a joke. Dr. Brownstein says - Rats Drugs & Assumptions. It is an amount that the government recommends for intake to keep you on the brink of disaster. RDA is 150 mcg (micrograms not milligrams) which will help to keep goiter away but not enough when women are pregnant as the baby will take it and leave the mother depleted. This happened to me and I ended up with thyroid cancer - started with a goiter that was not addressed by my doctor. Many places mistake mcg with mg. It's just ignorance on the part of the author or a typo since most nutrients are represented in milligram (mg) dosing. Very few are micrograms (mcg). pregnancy studies Thanks for the previous answers but I was hoping someone knew of a study or a documented recommendation. I do believe the 12.5 mg is ok but would like to have something to back it up.Also, I have been searching for studies and find what some list as the US RDA very confusing. The first article I thought was just a misprint but now I am reading in a homeopathy book that says the US RDA is 150mg for pregnant women. Ummm, most say 150 mcgs for people, not pregnant. I guess two sources can be wrong but... I find it odd.Eva
