Guest guest
Hi Deb: I've known a number of people who developed serious health peoblems on NSAIDS, and they required hospitalization. It rips up youe stomach. I have was riddled with pain throughout my body for many years until last oct when I began using magnesium chloride saturated solution (my husband makes it up for me from crystals). I use 1 to 2 tsp once a day on my back which had the most pain, from accidents, but you can put it anywhere on your body - within THREE DAYS I had absolutely no pain and still don't as long as I use the oil everyday. Many, many people have magnesium deficiency, I was one. (buy the ceystals, much cheaper than the liquid.) Guest guest
yes, it's called mag oil here. I wouldn't soak anything in it, as it would be a waste of the crystals.mix167 gms magnesium chloride hexahydrate to 100 ml water; it doesn't have to be exact but you want wnough so that the crystals are all saturated. you can probably find more details online on how to mix it. I buy mine from an aquarium shop (same quality but way cheaper!) here: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/checkout/cart/hope this helps. I think Dr. Brownstein has a book out on arthritis as well. Guest guest
Magnesium, MSM and VitalzymX will help with pain from arthritis. Items like Livatone Plus would help with detoxing the liver. That's a hefty dose of Naproxen and is likely to be contributing to the tiredness. Eliminate any processed foods also. Maybe start out with lower doses of iodine. Sounds like sever detox symptoms, working on liver support will help with the pain and detox. Guest guest
Bathing in epsom salts was something I tried for 3 years. Had very little impact for me. I have used ldn for a year and minocin 100mg MWF from valuepharmaceuticals in Canada but they send it from Germany. That seems to have more impact than local RX and also a buck a pill vs 14 bucks a pill even with insurance helping a tiny bit. I have used the magnesium oil for over a year and that helps also. Ironically I just bought nigari for a good price at Amazon so may try that supersaturated on my body. I also use electric acupuncture device for pain by Acumed called ETPS-1000. Three uses of that kept me from hip replacement surgery when my acupuncturist used it. Helps with pain and sleep and runs on 9 volt battery. I was rear ended twice by drunk drivers in 2 years and have FM which doesn't play nice with that. This gadget has been used in Canada for 20 years for chronic pain and insurance paid 70% of the cost. Nice to have some non RX things to use. The book on previous link has great one page thing to drs and that is what I used with my GP. I actually found a rheumatologist who used in past and is allowing me to use it. I also am going to see if can get tested for mycoplasma. NSAIDS like naproxen should be taken with food. I am actually trying it every 12 hours to fight some rib pain that has lingered for 4 years. Had 7-8-9 out last month so need to try things to beat this reoccuring mess. Can email off list. Guest guest
I take Zyflamend by New Chapter. It is an alternative to NSAIDS, an herbal anti-inflammatory. Really helps with my arthritis. It comes in a PM formula too as some of these herbs keep one awake. Naproxen eats up my stomach. Will never take it again. Guest guest
Good suggestions have been given. I would suggest reading Dr. Johanna Budwig’s book “FlaxOil As A True Aid Against Arthritis, Heart Infarction, Cancer And Other Diseases.” I have Dr. Budwig’s protocol on my blog at http://www.oasisadvancedwellness.com/health-articles/2009/02/the-health-promoting-benefits-of-flax-seed-oil.html It’s amazing at what consuming healthy oils in sufficient quantities can do for pain and inflammation and over-all health. Guest guest
I quit taking morphine 3 months ago. I was on 180mg for about 15 years. I have gone to 600mg of ibuprofen a day. I have crohn's disease and celiac's. I'm wondering why I don't feel any negative effects of taking this if it supposingly tears up your intestines. I would rather be on ibuprofen than be a morphine junky for the rest of my life. I just had to say something about this because I am just wondering. No blood in my stools and I myself haven't had any negative effects. Maybe I'm just plain lucky or blessed at this point in my life. I have read where there are negative side effects but hey if you don't feel it why change. The morphine was ruining my memory and made me feel less of a human being. Am I wrong? Guest guest
My heartfelt thanks to all who have taken the time to post, a wealth of information has been given, I am sure it will be used by many besides me. I know that cleansing my liver has to be a priority, and honestly, as severely as I seem to detox I am afraid! I have used milk thistle and antronex both of which caused detox symptoms, though not as severe as when I take iodine. I did stop them because I was afraid if I continued I would end up really sick due to detox. I wish I had the ability to " hit the pause " button on my life so I could spend some time totally devoted to detoxing. As a homeschooling mother to six (4, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 13), wife to one sweet, selfless, hardworking husband and caretaker to too many critters (domestic and livestock) to count....I am just not sure how to fit it in. I keep thinking that if I heal my adrenals, the stress of detoxing my liver and starting back on the iodine won't cause such severe symptoms. I also know it took me 50 years to get this way and that I won't get better over night. I will be reading through all of the information posted. (Rest assured there will be questions forthcoming!)Thanks again to everyone.DebOn Tue, Feb 22, 2011 at 11:51 AM, Dr. Loretta Lanphier <drlanphier@...> wrote: Good suggestions have been given. Guest guest
- the NSAIDs impact higher up in the GI tract but eventually they will probably cause issues if you are taking them daily. For me it was major ulcers, stomach and duodenal, but then I was taking 800 mg 3 to 4 times a day. I had to go off all NSAIDs and Aspirin type products. Unfortunately when you can't take NSAIDs or aspirin guess what they want to do instead? Steroids. I said no thanks. LDN plus DLPA have worked wonders for most of my pain. DLPA might also allow folks to take less NSAIDs as a study showed that DLPA helped make the NSAID to be more effective in pain relief. Turmeric is also a good help for pain issues. Guest guest
I also suggest testing you level of D3 in your blood. I was in bottom 1% with just 13 when at my sickest. Have been at 59 lately but took 10,000 a day to get there for several years to make that change. Nightshade vegetables like regular potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, pimentoes and bell peppers really skyrocket my pain levels. Ldn helps with pain, sleep and hormones. Interesting to see progesterone on list. Another option may be difluac get called voltaren which only has about 7% of the impact on skin as taking that same medicine orally. But then the goop needs to be next to the pain which can be a challenge. I keep hoping to find a magic end to my ribs popping up but have not as yet. It has helped calm my immune attacks on my thyroid and mouth. Once you get your inflammation calmed, you can work on your adrenals better. Iodine is certainly needed by your adrenal glands as well as all your other cells. It is scary to try new things when we are sick and sensitive, but you have to pick the best course and go for it! I don't know about the other Rx for RA and if it would go with LDN, but check it and see. You may feel like a new person with the iodine, adrenal treatment and maybe some Alpha Lipoic Acid to help your liver out. Try the LDN group (the larger one has more activity and people with RA). Guest guest
Serrapeptase is an option to replace NSAIDS, although it may not be an immediate relief. Relief has been noticed as early as one wekk but could take up to 3months. You should research its benefits for chronic pain such as yours.
