Guest guest
I have never used iodine for ear infections. I have, however, used hydrogen peroxide from the drug store , and it works very well. There is a direct connection between cows milk and ear infections in infants. Kathleen Has anyone used Lugol's for ear infections? If you've ever used Lugol's for ear infections please let me know how did you you it and what was the outcome? We're trying to get a 6 month baby off antibiotics. He's had 2 ear infections already. As an experiment I just tried 2 drops of 2% Lugol's in one of my own ears that has been mildly infected and don't recommend it. At first it hurt then I just felt weird. I'm waiting for suggestions before I try it in the second ear for me. I'm assuming the dose will have to be very diluted for a baby.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Guest guest
A friend of mine always recommends garlic oil (you can Google garlic oil ear infection), but I never tried it. Ear infections were never a problem at our house. We had lots of OTHER problems...AnneOn Feb 25, 2011, at 9:42 PM, infotech003 wrote: If you've ever used Lugol's for ear infections please let me know how did you you it and what was the outcome? Guest guest
There are a few issues with ear infections. 1. Dairy allergy - even if breast fed the mom then needs to try to get off dairy and see if it helps. Gluten can also be an issue - mom & baby. 2. Vaccinations - each time my son got a vaccination he would get an ear infection 7 days later. This is common I have found out since stopping vaccines and doing more research. 3. If the baby has been on antibiotics you also need to get probiotics into them. Metagenics has a product that is very good for babies/children. The name escapes me at the moment. It's a powder that can be added to a bottle. 4. We used HEEL Ear Drops - it's homeopathic and helps to relieve the pain. 5. Chiropractic adjustments are also effective for treating ear infections. This is how we do it. No antibiotics. Buist, ND Has anyone used Lugol's for ear infections? Guest guest
YOu can buy garlic and muellin oil from a health food store. It works great for ear infections. that's all I've used for my kids - no more antibiotics for over three years. My son is allergic to most antibiotics. Guest guest
mullein and garlic oil drops work very well. Just Google mullein garlic ear drops to find it on the web if your health food store does not carry it. Guest guest
I too am a fan of garlic drops HoweverI find one of the most important steps people forgetis to repopulate the healthy flora in the ear nose and throat canal after antibiotic use or ear infections....just before sleep have a nice unsweetened warm tea ( decaffeinated organic herbal is nice)open a probiotic capsule and pour to the back of the throat (don't breath the powder in)Swallow. Now don't drink anything else and go to sleep. Do this for at least 20 - 30 days after the antibiotics or the ear infections have cleared up.Also swallow capsules on an empty stomach at night for the gut flora. So many people fix the ear infection but then have reoccurring infections.Often this is the missing step.If you're not doing the gut probiotics after antibiotics often yeast will follow.Make your own garlic drops.Crush organic garlicleave exposed to the air for 2 minutes before adding oiladd organic olive oillet sit minutesa few drops ever few hours and keep going until it feels better. Make fresh batches regularly.Don't use if the ear drum has popped and you see blood and puss etc.. I would go let the doctor take a peek then.Simone FOn 2011-02-26, at 7:25 AM, Dianne wrote: mullein and garlic oil drops work very well. Guest guest
My eldest daughter had two ear infections before she was three months old. I was still nursing so I started eating a LOT of raw garlic. I also rubbed garlic on her feet. What really seemed to tip the scales for her (and our older son who also got the infections) was storing away all the plush toys. I put them all in a garbage bag. The ear infections never came back...and neither did the toys! A later child was also really sensitive to milk in such a way as to cause ear infections. Guest guest
I'm not sure about iodine for ear infections, but I have used colloidal silver for ear infections. I couldn't hear out of my ears and they cleared up after the first drops. You can get it at the health food store. I also give it to my cat and have for years. She apparently has asthma, but no problems if I give her 10 drops on her food everyday. Guest guest
I think it's a great product but I've never used it in my ears. I would be willing to try it though, it's a great product. --V At 08:31 PM 2/27/2011, you wrote: >I have had excellent results with a OTC product called XCLEAR. Guest guest
Hi Infotec h,Breast milk is the best for ear infections. Just squirt some directly into the ears. Also great for their little stuffy noses. Put some straight into the nose. You might want to express and use an eye dropper. Breast milk is a natural antibiotic.
