Guest guest
Hi Dianne, There are a number of different detox protocols. One that people frequently discuss here is the liver/gallbladder flush (I believe there are instructions for this in the Files section on the website). There are other, less intense detox protocols, different combinations of herbs and nutrients with varying instructions. I needed something I could control the intensity of and used sence Tea. I was able to take small doses that avoided the too-intense changes that trigger flares in fibromyalgia. There are other ones. I'm not the expert on how to detox. -- >Hi , > >I am new here and would like to know how one goes about optimizing their >detox pathways. I have been on Lugol's about 3 weeks now. Guest guest
The body gets rid of toxins in urine, feces, sweat, to some degree menstrual fluid, to some degree exhalation (breathing out -- as when people smell alchohol on your breath.) So, going back to basics, you want to drink plenty of water (as pure as you can get), you want to keep your bowels regular & cleaned out, & you want to sweat through exercise or a FIR sauna.Toxins processed in your urine have to go through your kidneys, so supporting kidney health helps your kidneys to work better. Toxins processed through your liver are excreted through the bowel -- which is where a liver-cleanse protocol comes in, to help flush toxic stuff out of the liver so it can work efficiently. Detoxing baths can help toxins move out of your skin more readily, if you start to have zits or rashes. (But with our Bonus Child, his skin cleared up whenever he ate well with us, & erupted like mad when he went visiting & ate a lot of junk. All the components are interactive.)Good nutrition supports all the bodily functions, & reducing toxins in your diet & environment give your detox pathways less work to do. Supplements, like the companion nutrients, also support various detox mechanisms. If you have uncomfortable detox symptoms, you need to either slow down the detox or improve the ability of your body to handle it.AnneOn Feb 24, 2011, at 7:39 AM, Dianne wrote: Hi , I am new here and would like to know how one goes about optimizing their detox pathways. Guest guest
I would supplement magnesium if you haven't already. Mag certainly makes a huge difference in my quality of life....reduced aching and joint pain.Joan Thanks , I also have fibro so have been worried about doing a strong detox at once. I also have ovarian cancer and did a six cycle chemo treatment which I now wish I had never done. It has totally destroyed me and has been the beginning of all my problems which fit hypo to a tee. Weight gain which will not budge, low temperatures, all over joint pain, mega fatique, the whole works. I have recently started on Essiac and will look into other herbs. Anyone that could chime in with any suggestions would be appreciated. Guest guest
As I have detoxed bromide over the past three years, achey joints & strange body pains have gone away. And most fatigue.Accept when I am about to ovulate or get my period I get a few,but they are not significant.Rhodiola helps a lot. I believe that once the adrenals are healed the cortisol levels are morebalanced, and you lose weight. But losing weight alsohas to do with eating/drinking things one is allergic to.(There is evidence that with heavy metal toxicity comes more food allergies & thus more weight gain, but don't tackle detoxing HM until you detox bromide.)To get rid of food allergies, find an NAET practitioner.http://www.naet.com/Best,AliOn Feb 26, 2011, at 7:26 AM, Joan Dwyer wrote: I would supplement magnesium if you haven't already. Guest guest
Anne’s information is great! More ways to help open detox pathways are dry skin brushing (Google to find out how to “brush”), rebounding (7 minutes/day is all that is needed) and deep breathing exercises. Dry skin brushing increases circulation and stimulates the lymph system (also helps with cellulite); rebounding helps to keep the lymph system and digestive tract moving which is very important in carrying toxins out of the body. Deep breathing exercises (can be done just about anywhere and anytime) will help by “pumping” the lymph system. As Anne indicated, drinking lots of pure clean water (avoid water packaged in plastic) bathes the cells, helps remove toxins and hydrates the skin.Be WellDr.L The body gets rid of toxins in urine, feces, sweat, to some degree menstrual fluid, to some degree exhalation (breathing out -- as when people smell alchohol on your breath.) Guest guest
Diane-- Be sure to read Anne Seal's response to this thread, a few emails back. The iodine is your best protection and healer right now. The reproductive organs require iodine for normal functioning, not to mention the need for iodine in order for the body to fight off cancer on its own, which it is quite capable of doing. The Flor-Essence tea is a good cleanser as I mentioned, and I was able to control the dose so it worked well for me. My holistic veterinarian recommended it to me. It might be a good starting place for you, as it was for me. The best price I found was at www.vitacost.com. As Anne mentioned and I forgot, far-infrared (FIR) saunas are the bomb for detoxing the body. FIR is more gentle experience than traditional saunas and yet reach deeper into the body for more healing. People have found that raising the body temp through FIR kills off cancer cells (which require low body temps and an acid-skewed body environment to thrive). So I cannot emphasize strongly enough my recommendation of FIR for you at this time. Also the magnesium oil is super excellent for the skin and is a way to get more mag into the body by bypassing the bowel. Those of us with fibro usually need massive mag supplementation, and I was actually prescribed to have magnesium IV infusions, but couldn't afford it. Mag oil is a good adjunct and helps clear up the skin-- topically it is an excellent cleanser/antibiotic/antiseptic. It will burn in cuts but wow does it speed healing! --V At 09:17 AM 2/26/2011, you wrote: >Thanks , > >I also have fibro so have been worried about doing a strong detox at >once. Guest guest
You're most welcome, Dianne. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. And just to note for everyone-- it's always great to hear how people are doing after starting iodine. We often hear from the (few) people who are having problems because they are seeking solutions, but the vast majority of people don't have any problems at all. So especially if your health is going well, we'd like to hear progress reports-- they help everyone. -- At 06:54 PM 2/26/2011, you wrote: >Thank you all for your input. Guest guest
I don't have any suggestions for you Diane but just thought I would let you know that chemo ruined my thyroid too. I had no hypothyroidism until finishing chemo. I couldn't understand why I was still feeling so rotten for so long after I had finished. Turned I was seriously hypo. It if makes you feel any better, I am now 8 years out, take thyroid medicine and iodine, eat clean organic diet when possible and I feel great. So you can get there but it takes time and hard work. Good luck. BarbF In a message dated 2/26/2011 10:17:57 A.M.
