Guest guest
Have similar thing on one thumb. Also from time to time on bridge of nose and outside edge of one eye. One possibility is psoriasis which can cause this type of skin problem. The cause of psoriasis is not known for sure but can be caused by a fungus, just like cancer. It is considered an auto-immune problem where the skin thinks there is an injury and it continues to grow new skin without stopping. Sometimes it goes away only to come back again. Just a thought. > > Could this be related to detox? My son is seven and has been taking 12.5 mg iodoral for about 10 months. The tips of his fingers and his toes, the skin is peeling and it is red underneath. His big toes have split and opened up to sores. There is also peeling skin all on the upper part of his foot and around his toes. It is not itchy like athlete's foot or anything, but it is pretty painful. snip
Guest guest
I'm not sure what this is, but wanted to let you know of a product that I had excellent results with for skin issues. Ocean Plasma worked very quickly to get rid of a rash I'd had for about a year. It is also good for detoxing. My daughter uses it also and had a problem with the bottom of her feet peeling which I think is related to her Hashi's. You can find more info here: http://oceanplasma.com/LinnOn Feb 24, 2011, at 4:56 AM, Viola wrote: Could this be related to detox? It is not itchy like athlete's foot or anything, but it is pretty painful. I have been putting cream on it every night and then socks. Our doc recommended a mixture of Desitin diaper cream plus two other homeopathic creams for burns and contusions. It seems to help a little or at least slowed down the amount of peeling but it is not curing it. He has had this once before and it seemed like the cream healed it or maybe it was soemthing else... I'm not sure what to do for him. He has two MTHFR C mutations which do interfere with detox pathways. He is taking some supplements to help with that. He is also hypothyroid and taking NatureThroid 1/2 grain. We are still testing blood every time we change the dose and have not got his tsh level to the 1-2 level that his endo wants to see it. We go in Friday to see the results of Monday's TSH check. Thanks. Guest guest
I have found that it can be a lack of good oils - Omega 3 fatty acids. Guest guest
Evening primrose oil is also good for skin conditions. It contains both LA (linoleic acid) and GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) which are soothing and healing for the skin. Also more effective when taken along with an Omega 3 supplement.LinnOn Feb 24, 2011, at 9:27 AM, ladybugsandbees wrote: I have found that it can be a lack of good oils - Omega 3 fatty acids. Guest guest
I have found that using good quality coconut oil on my skin has been really healing. Last year I had bumps that seemed like itchy bites on my forearm. They openned into sores that didn't heal for months until I tried the coconut oil, which is good to eat, too. Guest guest
Thanks, everyone, for all the good info! I have tried coconut oil in the past, but it's not enough. I think might be on to something with the lack of oils. I do regularly give him krill oil, but it doesn't have a lot of dha/epa in it. He cannot handle cod liver oil, for some reason he is very hyper with it. So I am starting him on a salmon oil supplement that has much more dha/epa in it. Hopefully, that will help. Guest guest
maybe this will help your son...my husband also had the peeling fingers...it would come and go..then after a clear time all of a sudden his finger tips would start to get hard and then peel....sometime they would be raw pink under the skin that peeled..so ugly and sometimes tender... anyway here is how we cleared it up...thinking that a lot of funny skin rashes are connected to adrenals and issues with cortisol..i had him put on 2 times per day the following....a thin layer of 1% hydrocortisone cream...then on top of that he put on a thin layer of polysporin in case there was an underlying bacterial issue...he did this for a full 7 days...and it cleared up and has not come back in at least 6 months... since your son is younger you might want to sort of wean off the cortisone cream..so do it for a full 7 days..2 times per day...and then after 7 days go to 1 time per day for a few days and then to every other day..i say this so he does not have adrenal issues coming off the cortaid.... we also did this same protocol for my little girl when she was about7 ..it worked on her too for a terrible eczema on her foot which she had come and go for years before we finally got rid of it this way... good luck! > > > > I have found that using good quality coconut oil on my skin has been really healing. Guest guest
I have seen others report that CLO causes hyperactivity. Not sure the mode of action. Vitamins A & D do regulate metabolism so its possible that the increase in A/D is up regulating metabolism. I would be careful with DHA & EPA, they are heavily over hyped and can cause their own set of problems if too much is taken. Here is a good article that discusses them in their historical context. I consider it a must read for anyone taking fish oils: http://www.westonaprice.org/know-your-fats/2021-precious-yet-perilous.html > > > > I have found that using good quality coconut oil on my skin has been really healing.
