Guest guest
I have been taking selenium for a long time, about 200 mcg a day, and i added lugol', 5 drops. Then I grew tired and had a tsh test and was told to increase my iodine. i continued with the iodine and selenium (not to mention other vitamins and minerals), and I grew tired again, so I took my temp in early am. 97.2. I increased my Westhyroid (spelling) by another 1/2 grain, so I have gone from 1/2 grain to 1 1/2 grains in a little under 2 months. now my temp is 97.6. i laid off the iodine because I fear I am killing off my thyroid, whereas without iodine my dosage for the last two years has been 1/2 grain or with Armour it was 30 mg. I am not sure what to do. I know my body needs iodine, everyone's does. I had also been off gluten for months before starting iodine. Any advice? Thanks. (I was still on Armour when I had to do the first increase. Changed brands due to Westhroid being cheaper.)
Guest guest
Advice? Yes, you need to understand the relationship between Hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue.Suggest you got to DrRind.com.Click on " Instructions for using metabolic Temperature chart " , and favorite to your desktop.Click on Metabolic Temperature chart, and print some copies. Favorite so you can print more, as needed. Click on " Metabolic Matrix', and read. Also, go on STTM site, (StopTheThyroidMadness) and read what they have to say about the TSH test.It is a very accurate test, for what it measures.Unfortunately, it is of little to no value in accessing Thyroid function. Just from your post, i would suspect you are adrenally fatigued, as a result of being Hypo for years. Taking iodine is stressing your adrenals, which are already worn out, from being forced to do their job, AND compensate for the thyroid not doing its job (due to lack of iodine, too much floride, etc). Unfortunately, this is a case where you can't just " Deal with the underlieing cause " , by taking iodine.Because it further stresses the adrenals.Adrenals produce Cortisol. Your cells need Cortisol, in order for the Thyroid hormones to get into the cells. Otherwise, they just 'pool' in the blood. At a certain point, your body will detect these high levels of thyroid hormone in the blood, and produce Reverse T-3, a thyroid hormone that lowers the amount of T-3.So, you could be making matters worse. If you haven't, might want to join ; NTH, (NaturalThyroidHormones) and NTH Adrenals.Jim > > I have been taking selenium for a long time, about 200 mcg a day, and i added lugol', 5 drops.
