Guest guest
If you feel like a zombie with all the rest... you need to address adrenal fatigue. Try Dr. 's book- Adrenal fatigue, and/or go to nthadrenals.org. I am using low dose iodine but realized that first my adrenals are the problem, then will work on the thyroid. I am on synthroid and in the search to find a doctor to make changes to NTH. But a lot of my symptoms seem to be more adrenal based, and then thyroid can work better along with the iodine. Guest guest
Hi , I’m starting to really think this is my problem as well. The higher the dosage of iodine, the more stressful (very edgy) and tired I am feeling. My temperatures are also going down rather than up and TSH also increased. I’m also not sleeping very well at night now even though I take Lugol’s in the morning. I just wake up so often and feel in a half sleep all night. Lori Re: Newbie question about detox... Guest guest
Dani - You seem to be missing some components. Iodoral Selenium - not selenite (selenite contains NO significant selenium) Magnesium Vit-C Unrefined Sea Salt (1/2 tsp min - more if you salt load to detox) The symptoms you describe are likely bromide detox. But things are complicated by the fact you do not appear to be taking ANY of the companion nutrients. Guest guest
I missed the sodium part when I looked it up so it does seem to have more selenium in it that I thought. But it is not the form of selenium I generally see recommended. I have a good summary of the different types bookmarked at home. I'll try to remember to look it up and send it tonight. But you do seem to be missing the other companion nutrients. The sea salt being quite key in that mix. Guest guest
Detoxing is very stressful on adrenals. You seem to be having adrenal fatigue symptoms to me: light sleeping more fatigue *falling temps* etc....
Guest guest
Thanks, ...I've written down the name of that book, and will also check out that site. I do remember years ago, when researching my symptoms at the time, coming across adrenal fatigue. So I'm definitely going to check this out. And you've gotten me to think about starting really low with the iodoral....I think I'll try just taking half of the 12.5 mg cap and see how that goes for awhile, while I check out about the adrenal fatigue. So I've got a plan starting to take form....thank you ~dani~ Posted by: " Teel" caalde@... caalde@... Guest guest
Thanks, Jaxi...here's what I've got so far... Iodoral 12.5 mg Sodium Selenite (250mcg Selenium) Vit.C Real Salt (in and on my food) I haven't been able to get the magnesium because I couldn't afford to yet, but will try to squeeze even more out of the food money this week, if I can. I also need and will try to get a good multi vitamin with iron, and maybe a good B complex when I can. I'm very rundown and at least part of that is because of my very limited diet and apparent malabsorption problem. It's like the chicken and egg thing...which came first. These replies are really helping me to think straighter and form a plan....thank you. ~dani~ Posted by: "jaxi" jaxi.schulz@... scuba_diva22 Tue Feb 22, 2011 10:08 am (PST) Dani -You seem to be missing some components.IodoralSelenium - not selenite (selenite contains NO significant selenium)MagnesiumVit-CUnrefined Sea Salt (1/2 tsp min - more if you salt load to detox)The symptoms you describe are likely bromide detox. Guest guest
I hope this form of selenium is okay? It does say it's 250mcg of selenium, but the name on the front of the bottle says sodium selenite. It's by Twin Labs, and the only selenium I could find at the health food store here. I hope it's what I need? The Real Salt I'm using in and on my food and even sprinkling a little dash in my herbal teas. I'm not sure if that's enough. ~dani~ Posted by: "jaxi" jaxi.schulz@... scuba_diva22 Tue Feb 22, 2011 10:14 am (PST) I missed the sodium part when I looked it up so it does seem to have moreselenium in it that I thought. Guest guest
dani, For your malabsorption, do you have any gluten-intolerance or other dietary issues? My daughter had a hidden gluten intolerance and I think it really drove her adrenal & thyroid issues... Just wondering, On 2/23/2011 4:37 AM, dani wrote: Thanks, Jaxi...here's what I've got so far... Guest guest
Steph, that's very good to know. I doubt our little health food store carries it...can it be ordered online like at amazon.com? I read a post fairly recently that listed different types of magnesium and one was noted for being gentle to the digestived system. Since I have IBS-D and so many food issues, I was going to try to get that type to try...which I think was magnesium glycinate? ~dani~ Posted by: "ladybugsandbees" ladybugsandbees@... stephanie_a_buist Wed Feb 23, 2011 5:05 am (PST) You have to try different forms to see what works for you. I use the Methylselenocystein e. I have a gene defect that affects methylation (the ability to break down compounds to the methylated form).Steph
Guest guest
I have gut issues and use Magnesium Oil since it is transdermally applied and works better for me. The methyl form of selenium is common. Check your healthfood store. Otherwise I use the form found on www.vrp.com Re: Newbie question about detox... Steph, that's very good to know. Guest guest
Yes, Dani, magnesium glycinate is reputed to be less prone to causing diarrhea. However, I have IBS issues (that are controlled) that accompany fibromyalgia, and even the mag glycinate causes me problems. So I've moved to using magnesium oil, with only occasional oral supplements. I like the mag oil from Swanson's, much cheaper and from same source as the more expensive type. -- At 08:47 AM 2/24/2011, you wrote: >I have gut issues and use Magnesium Oil since it is transdermally applied >and works better for me. Guest guest
Thank you all for magnesium info. Since I sure don't want my digestive problems to get any worse than it already is, I am very thankful for all of the advice. I would've replied sooner, but haven't been online much due to phone line being out off and on due to weather. I need to catch up. ~dani~ > > > > >I have gut issues and use Magnesium Oil since it is transdermally applied > > >and works better for me. The methyl form of selenium is common. Guest guest
I am having symptoms like this too, especially the burning eyes, pain in the front/top of my head, edgy and not sleeping well. In addition to the salt loading right after the dose, I have been taking adrenal cortex extract for the adrenals and increasing that to about 3 capsules a day seems to be helping some. I might even need more! You can get it really cheap at luckyvitamin.com, for like half the price! > > Detoxing is very stressful on adrenals. Guest guest
Do you have silver fillings? Thyroid and adrenal problems are very in line with mercury toxicity and your detox reaction screams toxicity to me. I am in the process of planning my amalgam replacement with a Huggins approved dentist now. Nothing short of an eye-opener, in fact, the pre-surgery testing is how I found out about my own thyroid problem for the first time! I never would have guessed myself to be hypothyroid, especially because I am very thin. Also, if you have silver/amalgams, consider reading Cutler's Amalgam Illness. It contains a TON of information on every single page. It has been said that it's not the kind of book you read cover to cover, it's very technical, but I couldn't put that sucker down!! I did read it cover to cover and it is one of THE most worn books in my huge medical library! I refer to it ALL the time. > > Detoxing is very stressful on adrenals.
