Guest guest
Adult dosing is 200 - 400 mcg / day so I would think it would be safe to increase her dose. My 11 yr old takes 25 mgs of Iodoral / day and has since he was 9 yrs old. You may want to consider increasing that as well. Is she on thyroid meds? When children grow they need more. iodine and kids stephanie...how much iodine and selenium should i be giving to my 13 yr old...she has been taking 6.25 with 100 of selenium for a long while..but she is getting bigger now and i am wondering if i should increase it.. she weighs about 97lbs....her thyroid is sluggish and she just started on isocort to help with low cortisol....her temps are running low .... Guest guest
she is not on thyroid meds yet but her numbers are looking low...she was showing low cortisol on saliva testing so she is on a run of isocort to see if that helps..she may need thryoid meds though...i was hoping that she could avoid that at such a young age...i worry that she could find herself in a situation not being able to get her thyroid meds...i just hate being dependent on docs and medicines...her antibodies were negative but thryoid still low... to be sure ...you are saying that she could take 200 mcg of selenium and 25 of iodoral?? or did i misunderstand? > > Adult dosing is 200 - 400 mcg / day so I would think it would be safe to increase her dose. Guest guest
My children are in the same boat. My daughter was 4 when she was put on Armour and my son 7 yrs. She is on 2 gr and my son is on 2 1/4 gr. The odds of them getting off thyroid meds are slim to none. They will have a lifelong battle to stay on good medication. Yes that is what I said she could probably take w/o issues. Guest guest
Children need iodine, healthy or not. Iodine is an essential mineral which is hard to get in the diet, plus we are all bombarded daily with chemicals that mimic iodine in the body, so we need more iodine than ever to displace those chemicals and allow our bodies to maintain and gain health. That includes, more than ever, children. Giving children iodine gives them hope they won't develop hypothyroid, and their thyroids are protected from other types of pollution. Steph has posted what her children take on many occasions. The following isn't up to date but it will given an idea. Here children both have hypothyroid, but the doses of iodine and companion nutrients are appropriate for all children. >Yes I do know how much we worry about our children. > >How old is she? Guest guest
If your kids ever sit on a carpet, ever ride in a car, ever use electronic devices, they are being exposed to bromides. Sooner or later, they will build up to toxic levels in the body. Speaking for myself (but I imagine others could say the same) I was fairly healthy as a young person, but have gradually gotten sicker & sicker over the years -- until I started taking supplements, cleaning up my diet, etc. My son was healthy & passing for normal till age 12 or 13, when puberty & /or a HepB shot shoved him over into Asperger's. Our food supply is compromised in every possible way, & we are surrounded by chemicals that we are not able to control. Supplement those healthy kids BEFORE they get sick. After they are sick, the damage is much harder to fix. (Ask me how I know.)AnneOn Aug 8, 2011, at 12:12 PM, harringd932 wrote: With all of the research on iodine and its benefits, how many people give their kids iodine on a daily basis. Just curious on who supplements their "healthy" children and what doses would be appropriate. Deidre PS. I have a FB page regarding being healthy related to our creator for anyone who is interested.
