Guest guest
Thanks . I forgot to mention the magnesium, I take either magnesium citrate or malate depending on where I order! How long would you expect the swelling feeling to last? What were your experiences? Thanks! > > Initially the thyroid can swell in an effort to take in more iodine. So yes it can be normal. If it continues for a long period of time then there may be another issue. How much of the nutrients you listed are you taking? I don't see Magnesium in there. Have you looked at the new members document in the files section to see what is recommended to take with the iodine? > > Buist, ND
Guest guest
The problem with detox is that it can manifest so differently in different people. There is no single specific symptom that everybody will get. We are kind of stuck with a vague, blanket term.AnneOn Feb 28, 2011, at 4:39 AM, joolsweb wrote: I have been reading this group with interest, and have purchased some 12.5mg Iodoral, Vitamin C, and selenium. Due to the way the health service is run in this country, and budget cut-backs, I doubt I can just request whatever test I like from my doctor, and can't afford private tests. So I have worked from 12.5mg to 50mg Iodoral, and just wondered if being able to feel the thyroid when swallowing, and a runny nose, meant I was getting too much? I have also, at times, felt pretty tired and down. I read a lot about 'detox' on here, I am a little concerned it is an over-used blanket term. I eat a very good dairy/gluten/grain/legume free diet (Meat and veggies basically!) so maybe there is less 'leaching' of iodine from my body? Anyway, all thoughts welcome! Guest guest
I am also not seeing the very important unrefined sea salt in your list down there which helps with detoxing. The runny nose is a very typical detox symptom, as is the feeling run down. I have noduals in my thyroid - which is what led me here in the first place - and experienced some swallowing issues after starting Iodoral plus companions. This is also listed on the detox list. I also seem to be detoxing through the skin - not facial acne but on the scalp under the hair. If I do epsom salt detox baths and up my oral salt intake both seem to improve. When I get lax on the baths and the salt intake both seem to worsen. Guest guest
Thanks Anne - good point I need to get some. I also have some Carsons omega 3 oil (Best of the best!). I have also been feeling cold, and I have read all sorts before about excess iodine causing hypothyroidism or even damaging the thyroid. (Although I see this is dismissed here, it is hard to shake off conventional wisdom!) How long did you all experience 'adjustment' symptoms? Guest guest
It isn't very common so I can't give you a normal. But personally if I felt it go on for more than 2 weeks or it gets worse then I would re-evaluate my protocol. Steph Re: From the UK, just after some guidelines Thanks .
