Taking the radioactive iodine test - can you use Himylayan salt?

Hi all,

Hope you are all doing well.

I was getting my hair done the other day and was talking to my hairdresser about her mother, who just had the second half of her thyroid removed. Now, she is scheduled for the radioactive iodine test? I think that is the name of it. Anyway, she was told NO salt, not even eggs. Apparently, they have salt in them. She wants to know if she can have Himalayan salt during the prep period. I can't talk the mother out of it, so I am not wasting my breath, she is 87 and does whatever the doctor says.

However, I told my hairdresser about the H Salt and she is going to get some so her mom can have it. I tried to tell her about the Iodine Protocol, but she said her mother wouldn't do it unless the doctor said to or OK'd it. Even though the doc did say that she was low in iodine!

I am glad I no longer do these things. I do the research and ask all sorts of questions before doing anything the doctor recommends.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Glowing,

grace~

They are wanting her to avoid iodine as completely as possible, so her doctor would tell her no for the Himalayan salt too. The eggs contain iodine as does the salt, that's why she was told to avoid those.LinnOn Feb 24, 2011, at 5:44 PM, tobdncng wrote:
