Guest guest
I have been mostly lurking here, reading from the beginning of this year up to today. I caught up! I learned a lot. Thanks for such a great group! I had recollected a book that I had read in the late '70's. It is " The Trace Elements and Man " . It was written by Henry Schroeder, MD, who worked as a researcher at Dartmouth's Medical School Trace Element Lab. What he says in this book about iodine is part of the reason MDs are taught that iodine is not important: " Iodine has only one role in the body, to complete the formation of thyroxin, the thyroid hormone, which containsfour atoms of iodine per molecule. Deficiency leads to overactivity of the thyroid, which cannot make the hormone and becomes enlarged into a goitre. It is not a vital element, but its absence causes ill health " . On the other hand, Adelle 's books are right on. I need to look for my old time medical books from circa 1920 and see what they say.
