Guest guest
Adriennne, Thanks for checking up on me. I'm actually doing pretty well -- particularly when it comes to my arm. I don't recall if I mentioned this before, but it seemed from what I read about lymphedema that it wasn't something that could be reversed, so I was really anxious about the possibility going through the rest of my life with one arm twice the size of the other, hard and painful, hot and splotchy. But every day I see progress, and I'd say the swelling and rash are more then 3/4 reduced. I can fully straightened the arm and have good mobility with it. I credit the Lugol's "salve" I wrote about before and the exercises I've been doing -- esp. those on the rebounder. My neck is looking normal to any casual observer, though I can still feel and see a slight hardness and bumpiness in two of the nodes. (and I apply the salve there as well.) I am still rather weak and experiencing the low grade fever, with achiness of my back, that makes me lie down a few times each day. But these are symptoms I used to experience with the worst of my CFS and I am thinking perhaps the stress (emotional and physical) of the clot and also the ER/hospital experience once again depleted my adrenals and caused a relapse of the CFS. (My blood results came back low for sodium and I've been on a heavy dosage of sea salt for the last six months.) Either that, or my body decided this was a good time (ha!) to detox some of the CFS toxins. Mostly I'm grateful that retirement has enabled me to care for myself during this long (5 weeks so far) time without worries about a job (though I do miss the Tai Chi classes I teach as a volunteer) -- and grateful that my friends have been so good to be -- shopping for groceries, visiting, etc. And grateful for the care expressed on this forum. Guest guest
I am glad you are having success - be it slowly. Are you taking something for your adrenals? Those buggers are hard to heal after getting beaten down. Buist, ND Re: West? Adriennne,Thanks for checking up on me. I'm actually doing pretty well -- particularly when it comes to my arm. Guest guest
Thanks, . I was just thinking today that I need to go to past messages to explore what I might take for adrenals. I've had the CFS since the early 1980's, but in recent years I had gained such strength and endurance that I felt my adrenals were in pretty good shape, so, I pretty much ignored the discussions on this subject and I haven't been doing anything except the high salt intake. But now that I have your ear , maybe you can make some suggestions and save me going off in the wrong direction. Guest guest
Sure no problem. I used Biotics Research Cytozyme AD (Neonatal Bovine Adrenal Glandular) Vitamin C Unrefined Salt Ashwaganda Licorice Root (some have issues with this - blood pressure / racing heart) L-Theanine Rhodiola - Life Extension website has 2 great articles on this. Ginseng Magnesium B-Complex Vit E (with Mixed Tocopherols) If you are able to test for low pregnenolone and DHEA supplementing with them can help as well. Re: West? Guest guest
For me the magic combination was extra salt, extra vit C, Isocort (1-2 pellets per day), Vit E (mixed tocopherols, 1200IU/day), pregnenolone (40mg/day). I think that was the whole list. Plus my usual other supplements, including iodine and companions, NAC, Quercitin/Bromelain. -- At 06:35 PM 2/26/2011, you wrote: >Thanks, . > >I was just thinking today that I need to go to past messages to explore >what I might take for adrenals. Guest guest
If you are able to use Licorice Root it will help retain the sodium that you have been taking. Some choose Florinef which requires a Rx I think. > > > Has anyone heard from West--or if you ARE , how are you doing? Is your arm still swollen, are you still running a fever, etc. etc.? Guest guest
Sorry to be a pest about this I haven't gotten clear on where LDN came in on your process? Sometimes in the past I have seen you post how beneficial this was for you but other times you don't mention it as a part of the items you take. As I've been following peoples stories on this forum LDN comes up at times and at some point I began to wonder how many of the success stories included the use of LDN ... and/or whether LDN played a role in the significant improvement at some point during the protocol ... and/or if someone had been taking LDN for a period of time but then began the iodine protocol and then found the improvement they needed. Not trying to downplay significance of the iodine protocol in the improvement of many lives, just seeing the mention of LDN pop up here and there and wondering if perhaps for some people it is a significant key and possibly needed in addition to the iodine protocol. I don't belong the the LDN group ... how long is a course of LDN, or do people just take it ongoing like thyroid meds? > >>> > >>> > >>>Has anyone heard from West--or if you ARE , how are you > >>>doing? Guest guest
Thanks, Baxrox. Unfortunately, licorice root was the one thing on 's list that I did try many years ago and had some problem with -- though I can't even remember now what exactly it was. Guest guest
Oh, , I also take 5-HTP, have taken it for more than 10 years for fibromyalgia, you might find it helpful for CFS. I find that Vitacost.com NSI house brand is the best price. -- At 09:27 PM 2/26/2011, you wrote: >,] > >Thanks for these additonal suggestions for me to check out. > > > >On 2/26/2011 6:07 PM, Baker wrote: >> >> >>For me the magic combination was extra salt, extra vit C, Isocort (1-2 >>pellets per day), Vit E (mixed tocopherols, 1200IU/day), pregnenolone >>(40mg/day).
