Guest guest
Hello, I've been reading through the wealth of information here, but I just wanted to share my experience to get some reassurance. I've had problems with fibrocystic breasts for several years (ever since I stopped taking BC Pills, I think). Recently, one cyst developed into an abscess; very painful, so I finally decided to do something about the FBD. My Dr. mentioned iodine being used for FBD. I looked into Iogen (I now realize that this is a very tiny dose; only 3mg) and started taking it a week ago. On day 2 of taking the Iogen, I began to get a funny feeling in my throat. It's slightly sore, but mostly feels like there is a lump in my throat. Is this my thyroid swelling up to get the iodine that I am finally giving to it? As far as thyroid testing goes, my Dr. tested my antibodies (TPO and Tg) before I started taking the Iogen and both tests came back negative. Looking through my medical records, I also discovered that I'd had an antibody test about 5 years ago (different Dr.) when I was having major fatigue problems (turned out to be anemia). This test was also negative. Looking back at my records (I've been meticulously collecting my blood test results for years!), my TSH seems to fluctuate between 1.5 and 2.5. The one time I had free T3 and free T4 tested, they were a little below mid-range. My current plan is to double the Iogen and then move on to taking Iosol. I was leaning toward Iosol because it looks like it has more molecular iodine. Is this correct? My Dr. specifically said that molecular iodine works differently from the iodine in Lugol's and is more effective for treating FBD. Thanks for any input/shared experiences/knowledge!
