Guest guest
Hi Kookie, I'm a newcomer to the iodine group, but I have been using supplements for decades. Three years ago, I wound up in the hospital with heart failure, due to a virus. Several of the medications the cardio put me on had black box warnings and severe side effects. Once I got home, I slowly weaned myself off them and replaced them with CoQ10, taurine, hawthorne and natto. The CoQ10 and taurine strengthen the heart, the hawthorne prevents arrhythmia, and the natto prevents clots. I have not had any further problems and I'm able to climb four flights of stairs carrying bags of groceries without becoming short of breath. I also have no angina. I didn't tell my cardio that I intended to *replace* his prescription meds, just asked him if it was okay to take my supplements. He gave me his okay, saying that all of them, except perhaps natto, can be taken along with my prescriptions. BTW, I decided to replace coumadin with natto because while I was taking coumadin, my toenails turned blue and fell off. I can't tell you how uneasy that made me feel. Nothing like that has happened with natto. I'm very experience with supplements, so I don't advise you to do what I did without doing thorough research first, and going very slowly. Hopefully your doctor is not totally against supplements. I know some are. My cardio said that I could take CoQ10 alongside whatever else I was taking. If you should decide to try it, I recommend the form called ubiquinol. Good luck, Dianne
