Guest guest
That may be how much you need. There are no hard and fast rules. Listen to your body. I take anywhere from 50-100 mgs / day. Just depends on how I am feeling. Steph When to Reduce Iodine How do we know how long to stay on a high dose of iodine and when to reduce it? I"m on 100mg of lugol's per day plus having a bit extra iodine through a few other supplements. I've been on this dose for about four months, with about a two week break in the middle. Is it okay to stay on this dose? If I should lower it at some stage, how do I know when and how much do I lower it by?I have/had Hashimoto's, high Reverse T3 and adrenal fatigue. My symptoms are much better but I still have a lot of breathlessness on physical exertion and find physical exertion difficult and I think my memory could still improve somewhat. But e.g. the brain fog has gone, dry skin gone, my hair's growing well and I have much more mental energy than I had at my worst. Would like more physical energy. Guest guest
I'm still not quite clear on what I'm looking for, Steph. Seeing as I still have the breathlessness and some physical fatigue, should I increase the dose a bit more and see if that helps? I'm really much better overall but would love to get rid of these last symptoms. When I am feeling overall great, I'm assuming I just slowly reduce the dose and put it up again if I notice symptoms? Are there any possible problems with staying on a highish dose? Thanks, On Thu, Mar 3, 2011 at 10:20 AM, ladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...> wrote: That may be how much you need. Guest guest
I just joined the group and haven't had time to read all the introductory materials yet, but the title of this thread made me want to join in: I read a while back that when applying iodine (Lugol's) topically (I also put two drops in my juice each day), that you are at " saturation point " when the stain of it no longer disappears. Last night, after using it for maybe 9 months topically, I noticed that the stain of the iodine was still there after all day for the first time. Should I just use the two drops orally from now on and re-try the topical application occasionally? I had a double mastectomy for BC 14 months ago, no chemo or radiation, have yet to have an iodine test, but my cortisol (saliva/4ti p/day test) is normal. I am on Synthyroid and just began taking 12.5mg Iodoral about a week ago. > > > > > > > That may be how much you need. There are no hard and fast rules. Listen > > to your body. Guest guest
I am wondering about it too, , but you are way ahead of me. I am working my way up in dosage to hold the detox symptoms down. I am at only 12.5 mg now and passed through some detox on the way up. Planning to increase again next week. Anyway, I relate to the breathlessness issue and we think it is because of the macrocytic anemia I just can't seem to shake. I see all these other folks talking about iron anemia, but I have a different problem apparently. Fatigue has been a way of life for about 10 years now, sigh. Hashimoto's stinks! Anyhow,I am just piping up to say where I am at in my journey and trying out this new group... this is my first posting, so tell me if I didn't do it correctly. Guest guest
It's possible these last symptoms are not related to an Iodine deficiency. Guest guest
, I'm not Steph but I can answer your question. My parasites (please, no need to write me off list, I've got a good handle on it now) acted up recently and I upped my dosage to 160mg per day. This worked. i did it for around a week, now I'm back to 100mg. Just do it and see what happens, you won't explode, I promise you. You are the only one who can determine how much you need. It is the fear of doing too much that can be the obstacle. I take lots of raw honey and sublingual magnesium also. People with asthma should not take magnesium sublingually. Guest guest
I felt despondent at times for a while because it felt it was all trial and error but I really am so much better now. I struggled with detox for a while on iodine, and had a few days rest here and there and had to reduce the dose at times, before working back up, but now have no problems at 100mgs. After reading these posts I think I might try a little higher. I'm also using HC and cynomel but I'm having to mostly do this on my own as the only doctor I have found is 2.5 hours away by car and I can't get there very often. I haven't heard of iodine helping breathlessness but perhaps a higher dose could help get rid of my physical fatigue. Mentally, I feel good now, which is a relief after so much brain fog. Guest guest
I would like to add that I have been on 150mg for a while and it really helped me over the hump, now Im back on 100mg. Note that cancer patients take 200mg and up. Joan is right, don't be scared to go up a little more. Guest guest
Its hard to tell if I have parasites. A MD/ND muscle tested me through BodyTalk and came up with no parasites but something has been going on in my head/gums. Since they started acting up during the last full moon, I would think they were parasites. Anyway, I feel better. Joan > > > > > > > > > > > That may be how much you need.
