Guest guest
...... Mostly I'm trying to convince myself (and practitioners) to really focus on getting ferritin up, since it is quite difficult for me to do...... I don’t know a lot about iron/ferritin, but I can relay what the hematologist told me. She cares little about the iron levels, in general, and tends to look at ferritin. Her parallel was that ferritin is like how much money you have in your bank account from which to draw. Iron is like how much money you have in your pocket, which can change easily, but can’t amount to much if your bank account is low. That’s why she looks mostly at ferritin levels. Guest guest
Ferritin levels can be high due to inflamation, but a complete blood panel including saturation can tell the whole story. My ferritin levels were 155, but my iron sat was really low. Conclusion, anemia. I am off all my iron for five days and getting a retest this weekend as it has been a couple months. Then I am going to try as many natural ways to bring it up as possible. The reason to get it up is so my body can carry my thyroid meds into my cells. I am also hoping that the iodine will just heal my thyroid so much that it will all just fall into place. I got my products today, so I am off on this protocal.
