Guest guest
These are my latest labs results and was wondering if anyone thinks I would benefit from iodine supplementation and how much and how to go about it. I should say first that I've been on NT (3 grains Erfa) for about 2 months now and that my ferritin levels have risen (since I first started supplementing iron from 7.1 to 19.40. I should also add that I have no thyroid it was removed about 5 months ago because of a nodule which was biopsied which came back inconclusive and found out after the op that no cancer whatsoever. (yes one more unnecessary surgery) Either way, it's done and now I'm dealing with feeling like a very unhealthy 98 year old. Thanks for anyone that answers. I appreciate it! Here are my labs. Reverse T3- 242 (90-350) FERRITIN: 19.40 FEMALE (10-150) *IRON DEFICIENCY 0.68-34.5 B-12: 477.0 (211.0-911.0) T-4: 0.78 (0.71-1.85) TSH-3: 1.371 (0.400 - 4.000) FREE T-3: 2.34 (2.30-4.20) REVERSE-T3: 242 (90-350) FOLIC ACID: 9.93 (NORMAL = >5.38) TPO-AB UNITS: 675.04 (GREATER THAN 100 UNITS = POSITIVE) THYROGLOBULIN A.B. Guest guest
Not sure how long you have been a member but the prevailing thought on this forum is that everyone can benefit from iodine supplementation / iodine protocol and that the dosage in which they pursue that is as individual as the person themselves. Everyone has different circumstances but you certainly look like a prime candidate to benefit greatly. How to go about it ... Have you read the new member documents? And check out the Files. Peruse old posts. Guest guest
I COULD be wrong, but I believe you have a reverse T3 problem. The way you tell is by the ratio of T3 to RT3, and I think your ratio indicates a reverse T3 problem, which would explain why you feel the way you do.There is a group especially for dealing with this problem.I know, mod we're supposed to restrict ourselves to Iodine, but when I see someone suffering and I believe I know what would resolve their problem, I gotta say SOMETHING! Guest guest
Thanks so much Jim. I joined that group and hopefully someone there will be able to help me. Again, thanks! I'm also gonna try supplementing with iodine. I've read the files but am still not quite so sure as to what does is a good place to start. Guest guest
If you are wanting to proceed with the iodine protocol the best place to start is by checking your current supplementation against the recommended companion supplements and dosages. If you are already taking all of the companion supplements, including unrefined salt, then your next item to obtain is iodine in the form of either Lugol's or Iodoral. If you have been unwell for quite some time it may be a good idea to get a few days or a week of the companion supplements in you and then begin the iodine. It is also a good idea to have the detox pathways functioning well. Regarding RT3 ~ here is a recent quote from , the list owner: " Dr. Cabbott has a liver cleanse diet that has been effective for lowering RT3. I use Dr. Brownstein's TLC product from www.purezenhealth.com to lower mine. It was reduced by 100 pts in 6 weeks just using the product. Buist, ND " You are going to end up with a different suggestion from the RT3 group and which way you decide to go is up to you. also speaks of a thyroidless group that she is a member of and it may be helpful to you as well. Because of the fatigue and sluggish brain function that you are dealing with the information in the files probably seems like gibberish. Print it out and just read it and re-read it and eventually it will sink in :-) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > These are my latest labs results and was wondering if anyone thinks I would benefit from iodine supplementation and how much and how to go about it. > > > > > > > > > > I should say first that I've been on NT (3 grains Erfa) for about 2 months now and that my ferritin levels have risen (since I first started supplementing iron from 7.1 to 19.40. Guest guest
I would try iodine with this history. Your Frees are both low. The TPO antibody test is for Hashi's and the Thyroglobulin for Graves disease.
