Guest guest
Hello Everyone: Wanted to share with you a booklet from the Dept of Argiculture regarding Accommodation Children With Special Dietary Needs In School Nutrition Programs. This can provide information when addressing these issues on IEP's. I was unable to send as an attachment so Link is: http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/Guidance/special_dietary_needs.pdf Stay Warm, Barb

Guest guest
Hi Tracey, Yes, the schools are supposed to accomidate special diets. This case would be somewhat ok if you're not able to pack a lunch/snacks for your child. - A little better than non-gfcf. I didn't choose that route for us because you can't count on the kitchen staff of the school knowing exactly what gfcf is. If they don't know about all the subtle ingredients that can fall into play when it comes to true gfcf than you don't have a guarentee of complete gfcf to meet your child's specific needs. I've been making my son's lunch daily over the last 7 years starting in pre-school to 3rd grade now. It's easier to count on knowing you're providing what you know for sure rather than not knowing that you're child's dietary is being implemented accurately. They may have some specific products to offer for gf but most don't know about cf. The gf chicken nuggets may contain milk products....etc. Yours Most Truly, n In a message dated 1/28/08 9:15:23 AM Eastern Standard Time, jowca@... writes: > So if your child is on a gluten & casin free diet the school has to accomadate hot lunches for them????
