You are toxic in bromide. Values over 10 are considered toxic. That means that your iodine excreted is elevated due to blocked receptors with bromide. The iodine cannot be pulled into the cells. I don't know about reducing after 3 mos. Dr. Abraham said that it can take 3-6 mos on 50 mgs to become saturated. However, some have issues with symporters that need to heal and that requires Vit C and ATP CoFactors. I personally prefer to take higher doses for 1 year and then test. I have not seen anyone make marked progress quickly. It seems to take quite some time to remove measurable amounts of bromide. Nine mos may be a good point to test.

I ordered the 24 hour Iodine and Bromide test and recently received the results.**24 Hour Urinary Halide TestTotal Iodine Excreted: 43.4 mg (From 50mg loading dose Iodoral)% of Iodine Excreted: 87%**Total Bromide Excreted in 24 hours= 27.6 mgI called Hakala (where I ordered the tests from) and the fellow I spoke with told me that doctors generally start their pts. off at 50mg of Iodoral x 3 months, then have pts. decrease to 25mg for 3 more months and retest. Do you think I should do the 50mg for the 6 months, even increase if I tolerate the Iodoral well? I'm seeing an Endo right now and he is very unsupportive; told me to see a Naturopath, but I can't afford to right now. Thank you.~ Teri
