How to start taking Lugol's

My new dr wants me to start taking 7% Lugol's. I am confused by what 7% means

as the various iodine solutions seem to deliver differing amts of iodine -- from

as low as 150 mcg to as high as 3.5mg per dose/drop. Do any of you know what a

dr typically means by 7% or do I need to call my dr's office and ask just which

amt (in mcg/mg) I am to take?
