Tumors and iodine and pets

I know this topic comes up from time to time. We have a 13 year old dog who has

had a growth on her abdomen for a couple of years that has been growing slowly.

Funds are tight and since it didn't appear to cause her any problems and she

didn't seem to be in pain, we didn't do anything about it. Until today, when it

became open in one spot and slowly seeped a small amount of bloody liquid. She

still does not appear to be in pain or uncomfortable at all but I know that raw,

open centimeter has to be painful to some degree. We've been told to use

hydrogen peroxide and an antibiotic ointment on it to prevent infection.

The vet says she has a mammary tumor(s). She does not know if it is malignant

or not and the biopsy would cost nearly $700. We do not have $700. The vet

also found several other much smaller tumors and she suspects that it is

malignant because of this and because of the .

Is there any way that iodine can help Seneca since it is indicated for use in

breast cancer (and mammary tumors are breast tumors, after all)? Is it useful

only for prevention or for healing as well? She is 13 years old, 44 pounds and

we believe has allergies and possibly a yeast infection that leads to skin

problems from time to time and ear infections. We are feeding her the best dog

food we can afford (Kirkland dog food for weight control - no corn that I could

see in the ingredient list - something we try to avoid since it is a known

common allergen for dogs).
