I was just coming here to post about iodine in the aftermath of this terrible

disaster and am glad someone else already had a similar thought. Yes, I read on

a mainstream media site re: the 1,000 times normal radiation. WOW.

How does someone get the word out to the people in Japan that they need to be

taking iodine ASAP? Does Dr. Brownstein have some connections over there, such

that he can communicate the message to someone in Japan about the urgency and

importance of those people in Japan taking iodine? Assuming they don't have good

access to supplies like this right now, how does some organization/manufacturer

ship over large batches of iodine to Japan and surrounding areas?

One good thing is that, at least historically, the Japanese people have more

iodine in their diets than people in the U.S. do, so I'm hoping they aren't as

deficient in iodine to begin with, now that they're taking such a heavy hit from

the radiation. That said, even an iodine-saturated person is going to take a hit

when the radiation level is as severely high as it is there now.

Seems like I heard a while back that in the aftermath of another nuclear

disaster (maybe it was Chernobyl), iodine was given to people in a particular

country, and they had a much lower incidence of thyroid problems, as compared to

other nearby countries where the people hadn't taken iodine.

Speaking of Chernobyl, I was in Sweden for a couple months during the summer

after Chernobyl--arrived there about 6 weeks after the Chernobyl event. I am

still convinced that played a large part in me developing hypothyroidism. I

think I was already predisposed to having a thyroid issue, due to things like

genetics.

So...for people in North America who already take iodine, should we increase our

dosage in light of the current nuclear/radiation problem in Japan? How much more

iodine should we take than what we're taking now?

What can we expect? How long will it take for the radiation to get to the U.S.?

Should people on the West coast of the U.S. (especially Alaska and Hawaii) be

even more diligent about taking their iodine now, given that they're closer to

Japan? Or do the winds that carry the radiation not move in that direction?

Is the level of radiation coming from those locations in Japan as high as, or

higher than, the levels from Chernobyl?

What happened today is just so tragic and heartbreaking on so many levels.

Earthquakes, revolts, etc.--people in so many areas of the world truly need our

love and prayers.

The earth and all her peoples are groaning. I will pray hard and take my iodine

and give it to my kids too.
