We tried cranial therapy, and I honestly feel that it's just one of the so called autism "cures" out there that really doesn't help. It's VERY expensive, and I work in the health insurance field, and I don't know of any policies that will cover it. Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home.

We tried it for over a year, and while it was not harmful to my son at all, and we liked the practioner, I just didn't see any benefits to it at all. Has anyone had a more positive experience? We saw Paddy O'Flynn in Cleveland. Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home.

Hi ,

Noah has been doing Cranial for many years.

We go to Joann Granke who works at MetroHealth in the OT dept.

We have also gone to Paddy O'Flynn. Both practitioners are amazing yet quite different.

I know that it is expensive, MetroHealth does take some insurance b/c it is considered OT.

Call me if you want more info.

My feeling is if it is not invasive and outrageously expensive it is worth trying even for a short period.

Your son may respond.

Take care,Shari

Sorry that you saw no value in it for your child. Some people swear by it!

Yes!

Noah also had a very difficult(22 hour ) and stressful birth.

Let me know if you try it and how it goes.

Good Luck!

Take care,

Shari

Hi Shari,

Thanks for your input on this.

I agree, it is worth a try. Especially for a child that had a difficult birth - mine. Whom will benefit depends on the individual child, as always...

Thanks,

We were going to a therapist that I found on the Upledger website -

www.upledger.com. You can find therapists on this site and see all the

training they have had in it. Upledger, D.O. is the founder of

craniosacral therapy.

The Upledger Institute in Florida has supposedly done marvelous work

with children on the spectrum. You can read about it on the site too.

My son really loved the therapist we were going to. However, he just

couldn't lie still. He'd lay there for a few minutes and then jump off

the table and go exploring the office. Here I'm paying over $60 an

hour out of pocket for a kid to run around, so we stopped going.

If you have a kid that's not too hyper and will lie still, then it's

worth checking out. A good therapist can tell just by feeling your

child's head, back, legs, etc. if anything is out of whack and they can

correct that in a very gentle manner. I went for a while for my TMJ

and found it helpful, but it's not a quick fix, so you have to plan on

going for a while to see any results.
