Guest guest
I need some help explaining to my doctor that I am still hypothyroid even though my tests may indicate otherwise. My thyroid tests for August 12, 2010 and February 9, 2011 follow: TSH <0.01 and 0.01 (Range 0.40-4.50 mIu/L) FT4 1.3 and 1.5 (Range 0.8-1.8 ng/dL) FT3 348 and 360 (Range 230-420 pg/dL) RT3 35 and 33 (Range 11-32 ng/dL) Prior to the first test I was on 120 mg Canadian Erfa and sporadic use of iodine and companion nutrients. Between the first and second tests, I was on 120 mg Canadian Erfa and 25 mg Iodoral with all companion supplements except ATP cofactors. After the second test my doctor reduced my Erfa to 90 mg. Personally, I don't think it should have been lowered, but the doctor said my FT3 level was too high. Two and 1/2 weeks after starting the lower dose, I am experiencing swollen feet and toes, dry eyes, worse hypoglycemia, pounding heart, more muscle pain in my right bicep, etc. I have joint effusion in my right elbow and that has always been attributed to rheumatoid arthritis, but I just learned that hypothyroidism can cause joint effusions. Also RA is usually symmetrical on both sides of the body. My iron levels are low and ferritin high due to rheumatoid arthritis. I'm taking Minocin to kill the mycoplasma which caused the rheumatoid arthritis and the iron levels are supposed to self-correct when enough mycoplasma has been killed. I am taking 200 mg pregnenolone and 10 mg DHEA also prescribed by the doctor for adrenals. What can I say to the doctor to have him prescribe more thyroid? He thinks that 333 is the correct FT3 level for everyone. Thank you for any suggestions! Wanda
