How much Vit C are you taking? When you say salt loading what does that mean to you? Some people use that term for supplementing when the loading process is different. Did you get a headache the first day?

Headache with taking Iodine, using supporting nutrients.

Hi all, I've been on Iodoral for a week now (1 pill). I've had a persistent headache the whole time. I also have been taking the selenium, vit c, and doing the salt loading with celtic sea salt. I do feel better with the iodine as I have more energy in the morning after I take it. But by late afternoon I am so tired. I have read all the files and I'm unsure of what to do next. My doctor recommended I take 1 pill a day for a month. Then just take 1 pill/3X wk. But after reading Dr. Brownsteins book and the info here I think otherwise. Seems like with a serum level of 18, that i'll need a lot more Iodine to get to 100% saturation. Does anyone have any advice for me? How long will the detox symptoms last? And is there anything else I can do or take to lessen them? I'm gonna try the epsom salt baths too. Oh I should add that I also take Magnesium and Armour.Any help would be greatly appreciatedThank you

Thank you for responding

I am taking 4000-8000 vit c a day. Theres also some in my B-complex. I'm sorry I

didnt mean to write salt loading. I am taking 1/2 tsp salt a day. YEs I got the

headache the first day. I get it in the a.m soon after I take the iodine and it

usually starts fading in the evening. Do you think this is when the iodine i've

taken in the morning is mostly gone?

Do you break up the vitamin C into multiple doses? My pharmacist said the body

can only use about 1000 mg at a time, the rest is wasted. Not sure if this is

true, or if I can take all my vit C at once.

Yes I do break the Vit C up. I usually take 2000 at at time. Usually 3-4 times a

day. Has anyone else experienced bad headaches with Iodine?

You are probably experiencing a detox headache, and you need to salt LOAD in addition to the salt SUPPLEMENTATION to clear out the toxins and get rid of the headache. If you reread the new member document, there is a section that explains how to salt load to help get rid of the detox symptoms. Donna in IL Thank you for respondingI am taking 4000-8000 vit c a day. There's a good chance you're dehydrated as iodine can speed you up and use your

resources faster. Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces PER DAY. I'm not a big

advocate of filtered water as it doesn't include your minerals.

Chug a couple of big glasses tomorrow morning and see how you feel.

Distilled and RO water don't have minerals. Regular filters do not remove

good minerals.

I did at the beginning. It was a detox reaction for me. I made sure to be

diligent about my salt supplementing and salt loaded when necessary. Usually if

I just took 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon seat salt in a little water that often was

enough to help eliminate the headache -- I didn't always have to do the full

salt loading protocol.

I am on 100 MG and have been since last fall. I took about 6 months to get from

12.5 to 100 mg though the jump from 50 to 100 was the quickest jump. My detox

has definitely gotten much better and is only occasionally noticeable now.

I did too. I was the only one out of 4 of us who started Iodine about the same

time. I did take the salt, but it didn't always help. I just got through it

after a while and since then no more problem. What I read back then was, and I

would just pass on to you or anyone else, is to always push through! Iodine is

NOT the culprit so get the nasty junk out that is causing you problems. I am

sure my little one will never know what detox symptoms are because I will never

let her become insufficient in Iodine!
