Guest guest
Your TSh is high because you have just started taking Lugols. This is normal and has nothing to do with your levels of FreeT3 and FreeT4. Your doctor needs to test you for those Free's as they will give an accurate picture of how your thyroid is doing. Have you read the New Member Doc. in the FILES? There is info there that explains this. You can copy it and educate your doctor. Secondly, have you considered taking natural thyroid? Most people do better on Natural Thyroid Hormone, such as Naturethroid or Erfa. Kathleen Please help me get off of Synthroid Hi y'all - I am new to the group and I need to find out how to stop taking synthroid. I have been on it for 15 years and have recently started to add Lugol's on a daily basis. Recent blood tests show TSH at 10. Doctor thinks Lugol's is messing it all up and wants me off of it, or she will increase medication. Currently on Levothyroxine 112mcg. I don't know what to do because I don't want to increase medication. Please anyone out there I need good direction for my health. Thank you - stine
Guest guest
Thank you Kathleen! I am in the process of looking at the documents. Yes, I am interested in the Natural Thyroid Hormone does it require an Rx and Dr. monitoring? I have just started this process and thanks for helping me out, all suggestions welcomed! > > Your TSh is high because you have just started taking Lugols. Guest guest
You cannot diagnose a thyroid status with TSH alone. You need to look at Free T3 and Free T4 as well. If you read the new members document you would know that the TSH can rise to as high as 75 for up to 6 mos with no changes in the frees or symptoms of hypothyroidism. You need to dig deeper. If your doctor won't run these tests I can give you resources for where to purchase these tests online on your own w/o a doctor ordering them. Guest guest
Yes desiccated thyroid is rx. I recommend Nature-throid. Armour used to be a good product but they changed the formula and most cannot tolerate it now. We have no idea what they did to it. You will need to get a natural / holistic doc to help you. If you share your location we may be able to point you to a local doctor. Guest guest
Hi there - Thank you yes, I would love to find a natural/holistic doc. I live in Roswell, GA a suburb of Atlanta. -Stine > > > > Your TSh is high because you have just started taking Lugols. This is normal and has nothing to do with your levels of FreeT3 and FreeT4. Guest guest
if you are on synthroid there's a good chance your doc doesn't test frees anyway. i would also suggest finding a doc in your area that treats with NDT (natural desiccated thyroid) and don't be surprised if mentioning this to your current doc puts him/her into a tailspin. good luck. > > You cannot diagnose a thyroid status with TSH alone.
