So I buy her iodoral, magnesium, thyroid helper etc. She starts feeling better. Doctor who is supposed to be natural and progressive, tells her that she should only be taking minimum RDA of iodine, and 100 mgs of magnesium only. I am not sure I want to know what else he told her. At least she quit Methotrexate because she wants to get pregnant. Modern life is getting to me. Guest guest
This is an ongoing problem for many of us. I sent a copy of Brownstein's book to my aunt, & she replied with a really nasty letter about snake oil. I have a sister with SEVERE chronic fatigue, no eyebrows, & various other issues that indicate she should be doing a bunch of natural things to regain her health. But she is convinced I am an idiot. (In fact, I imagine she & my aunt get together & reinforce each other in despising me.)One of my husband's grandsons was shot up in Afghanistan, & when we went to visit him in the hospital, people were bringing him "gifts" of donuts & gummi bears -- you know, to help him feel better. Meanwhile the hospital was feeding him Jello, for its high nutritive value.Everywhere you look, you are going to see people who make poor choices, & who act like you're a fool. I find it extremely frustrating. Not only can you not control what other people do, you can't make them even LISTEN. I used to hope that my family would be impressed by my improving health, but I guess it's not improving THAT fast, & they are determined not to see.The most frustrating is when people actually ask you for advice & then ignore it. It gets to me, too.AnneOn Mar 17, 2011, at 8:43 AM, rhodocheila wrote: As with so many of us,my family thinks I am crazy, as do my friends for taking all these supplements and iodine. Guest guest
Ditto, what they said. I sent out emails to all the people I care about, telling them to getSSKI before it sells out. They still think there's no danger because mainstream mediais saying nothing will hit here. With the Japanese govt not telling us the radiation reading near the worst plant, there is no way to predict anything; however, since they have evacuated everyone from the plant and nearby, it sounds like they've given up and it will go to meltdownlike Chernobyl. It really gets old with people you care about being contemptous of you when you try to help. Glad and grateful for ya'll on this list!Mods, you folks are the best, thank you for all you do!ArielOn Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 2:57 PM, Anne Seals <anneseals@...> wrote: This is an ongoing problem for many of us. Guest guest
People have to have a vested interest in their own health. That requires effort and research, most of us have been indoctrinated to believe everything our doctors tell us without hesitation.and are totally disengaged from our own health. You can alert family and friends, but they're probably not going to listen. Tons of people have no idea that what they eat or drink effects their health, truly oblivious. My family doesn't do everything preventative that I do, but they sure do come running when they don't feel good! ;-) Linn > > > > > > > > As with so many of us,my family thinks I am crazy, as do my friends for > > taking all these supplements and iodine. Guest guest
My husband was CURED of fibro with high doses (800-1000 mg) of magnesium malate. Also used a glandular called Sub Adrene for his adrenal support. He takes at least 12.5mg of iodoral but usually double or quadruple that. > > As with so many of us,my family thinks I am crazy, as do my friends for taking all these supplements and iodine. Guest guest
Somehow knowing that your families and friends think you are "crazy" too is enormously comforting. I am not the only "crazy" person. It is so sad to see someone you love discontinue iodine because her doctor has advised her that is it dangerous. She was feeling so much better. Thank you for your replies. At least she isn't on Synthroid anymore. What would I do without this list? Carol
