,I'm also a veterinarian technician. Did you where your thyroid protected and apron when you did the x-rays? That is some protection but you haven;t worked long enough to get an exposure that would be significantly harmful to your body. Like 40 years. Also, taking iodine protectes your thyroid and other organs in your body. from IllinoisFrom: spacejunkie2001us <scastor@...>iodine Sent: Wed, March 16, 2011 9:21:32 PMSubject: Low grade radiation exposure

On a slightly different note from today's topic, many years ago I was a vet tech and was responsible for taking most of the xrays. I'm certain I got exposed to radiation. The questions I have are:

1. Did it store in my body and,

2. Will iodine purge it like bromine, etc., or what?

Thanks,

My understanding is that iodine does not displace radiation - it protects

against it - and only against radioactive iodine. I don't know what type of

radiation is generated by x-rays but I'm sure a Google search will come up with

websites that explain how to eliminate radiation from the body that came from

x-rays.

Hi ,

I usually wore my lead apron but I know of 1 or 2 times of not having it on when

xraying and the building we were in was not well constructed, with hollow doors,

etc.

This was in the early 80's and I was not on iodine then. My question is, if I'm

storing any radiation will the iodine I'm on now purge it. And, if so, could

that be why I get really big symptoms when I up my dose, such as ovary pain and

adrenal pain.
