Good Evening,

Due to the recent events in Japan, my husband is interested in learning more

about iodine and our protection/health. I am trying to educate him on the

difference between Lugol's/Iodoral and Potassium Iodide, and why the two

together are necessary over either, alone. He understands what I am explaining

but would like to see this from broader resources than myself. His specific

question is: Does iodine work without potassium iodide? Why not? (He read

about possible side effects of potassium iodide and wants to understand why we

have to take the two together and not just iodine as a necessary nutrient and

potassium iodide if we are exposed or at risk of being exposed to radiation.

Basically, since we live in L.A. and I take lugol's already, I have (for the

last 3 days) been giving our children small doses; 1 drop Mon, 2 drops Tue. and

3 drops today.(2% concentration) My intention is to stay around 2-3 drops

during uncertainty so that in the [event of] nuclear fallout, their systems are

not completely shocked, (because of sudden high doses). Thereafter, I would

dose my almost 3 & 5 year olds with 2 drops (apx. 5mg) 2-3X per week.

Would any of you pro's on this list be kind enough to provide links, resources,

evidence, etc. to provide my husband the answers he needs to feel confident

giving our children Lugol's, and that my opinion regarding iodine not working

effectively, healthfully, etc. without the marriage of KI is based on fact over

unsubstantiated theory? Thank you, delania
