Guest guest
Would just like to add that yes, detox symptoms can occur with even one or two doses for some but others may need to get to much higher doses before that happens. > > Hello Joy, > Are you taking the companion nutrients? Guest guest
Hi Pamela, The symtoms I have are shaking all over, anxiety, insomnia, stressed out over nothing, migraine headaches, and body aches. I start a new job tomorrow so I stopped the iodine. I just purchased the supplements so I will start back up soon.(crossing my fingers) I just wondered if my system was extra messed up. joy > > > > Has any one ever have severe detox symtoms after only two days on 12.5 iodine plus? Guest guest
Hi joy, I just got up to 12.5 mg a few days ago and within two or three days had mild air hunger. The last time I took it, I had significant air hunger and anxiety at 20-15 mg. I stopped it then and stopped it day before yesterday, too. I am going to try it again tomorrow. I experienced some positive benefits, too, so want to give it a chance to work. You might want to reduce your dose a little bit (did you build up to 12.5 or start there) or take a few days off then try again. Guest guest
Hi ,If you were taking the iodine without the supporting supplements, than that could easily be contributing to the severe symptoms and headache not going away. And make sure you take plenty of the magnesium! Do you move your bowels more than once a day? That may be crucial to getting the toxins out of your body. You could also try baths with 1 cup Epsom salts and 1 cup hydrogen peroxide. Guest guest
What is air hunger? It sounds like something that has happened with me since starting iodine & supplements. Is it the Iodine that causes it? Thanks! > > > > > > > > Has any one ever have severe detox symtoms after only two days on 12.5 iodine plus? Guest guest
It's where you find yourself trying to catch your breath for no reason at all. You haven't exerted yourself; you just can't get a deep, satisfying breath no matter how you try. I've been told it's a detox symptom. Guest guest
Yes, let's do maintain the distinction between taking iodine and experiencing detox symptoms. The iodine itself does not cause symptoms-- it is an essential nutrient that the body hungers for. However, the iodine kicks bromides off the cell receptors (that rightfully belong to iodine), and the bromides then are circulating freely in the body, and the bromides are what cause the symptoms. It is a very important distinction, because the treatment and alleviation is in paying attention to the fact of it being bromide detox. -- At 01:12 AM 3/19/2011, you wrote: >It's where you find yourself trying to catch your breath for no reason at >all. Guest guest
iodine doesn't "cause" air hunger. it might mean that a higher dose is needed to deal with symptoms. Guest guest
Air hunger can be caused by dehydration, acidosis, or high sodium/calcium in cells. high cell calcium constricts air passages. It can be seen in those with adrenal disease and or thyroid issues- which will cause all of the for mentioned. Magnesium is a calcium antagonist and can relax constricted airways. A pinch of salt in your drinking water helps with "keeping" your water. The thyroid controls calcium body balance.
Guest guest
Magnesium. I have not been taking this supplement as I should because the tablet is large and lodges in my throat because of whatever it is that has accumulated there for the last couple of years. Can I crush it and take it in juice? I know many people recommend magnesium oil for trans-dermal absorption but I cannot afford it right now unless somebody knows of an awesome deal. Guest guest
Lifetime makes a liquid mag/malate that is very good. Perhaps you go that route. In Carolyn Dean's book the Magnesium Miracle, she says that calcium NEEDS mag to dissolve. When we're deficient (and most of us are) then calcium forms hard deposits in your organs, tissues and veins. This causes asthma, frequent urination, plaque in your arteries, and a myriad of other ailments. Quite fascinating to read. I completely and fully, went off of anti depressants and anti anxiety when I started the higher doses of mag. I also never went back to the chiropractor, accupuncturist or massage therapy because all of my body pain/tightness was gone. Guest guest
Natural Calm is a powdered magnesium supplement, which you mix with hot water. (It bubbles up high, so use a large mug.) I add a bit of honey to even their flavored varieties -- it is like drinking hot lemonade.AnneOn Mar 22, 2011, at 9:18 AM, Pamela wrote: Magnesium. Guest guest
Being on the iodine protocol and supporting adrenals, etc. certainly requires lots of pill taking for me. I too have the constricted throat problem from time to time and getting pills stuck in there is scary and painful. Unfortunately magnesium in the more useful formulations is going to be a big pill/capsule for any reasonable dose. I have determined that swallowing the larger pills with some well-chewed food is MUCH easier than doing so with a liquid, at least for me. What I mean is I chew up some food completely, then I pop in the pill and swallow the whole deal. Using that method, I almost never have a real problem anymore. Of course that means I am taking said pills with food, which may not work for your routine. Guest guest
Hey Pam, I can't swallow my magnesium tablets either, so I chew them and wash them down with liquid or food. There's a yuck factor there, but I got used to it after a few days. You can also mix 1/3 teaspoon of epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) in 2 teaspoons of your favorite skin lotion, stir it with your finger until it dissolves, and then apply it to your skin -- that quantity of epsom salts is about 1 gram, which has 100 mg of elemental magnesium in it. It's absorbed through the skin readily. Dirt cheap and it works! It's even better if you make your own cream or lotion, to avoid unnecessary chemicals. I found that on the site of Dr. Myhill in the UK. The page includes simple recipes. http://drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/Minerals_and_vitamins_in_creams Good luck! . Guest guest
The advantage of mag oil is that it can be applied externally, thus bypassing the gut. It's the only way I can take a mag supplement, all other forms of mag create gut issues for me, unfortunately. Anyway, I think highly unusual for anyone to DRINK mag oil, it's meant to external application. Not that someone can't, but that's not usually the reason for using it. -- >Hi Pamela, ><http://www.vitacost.com>www.vitacost.com has liquid magnesium chloride, >not oil, it is just like water, add it to something and drink it. > >Donna in IL > >From: iodine [mailto:iodine ] On Behalf Of >Pamela >Sent: Tuesday, March 22, 2011 11:19 AM >iodine >Subject: Re: confused and need help > > > >Magnesium. Guest guest
That's quite interesting. What anti-depressants were you taking and how much? My husband has been taking prozac for a couple of years and I wish he'd get off it. How much magnesium (and what form) do you take? Is the magnesium oil a true oil? Is it slippery? Could I use it to give my husband back rubs?
