Synthroid doesn't work well for thyroidless people. It doesn't supply all the hormones your thyroid does. A normal thyroid provides T1, T2, T3, T4 and calcitotnen. Synthroid is only T4. Plus it's synthetic. I suffered on Synthroid for 6 years and then switched to desiccated thyroid (from pig thyroid glands). I take Nature-throid - as do my children. We are doing very well with it. Check out www.stopthethyroidmadness.com I would advise getting a new doctor that will help with symptoms and treat that way and not by labs.

Synthroid

If a person's throid has been removed and the doctor has her on synthroids but not enough medicine and she has muscle cramps when low on the medicine but they won't give her any more. She only sees her doctor once a year. Any suggestions? Would appreciate any and all. Thanks,

Can she find another doctor or naturalpath? Sometimes that is the only choice to fire the one you have and move on. PamOn Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 1:01 PM, Lee <leslie3106@...> wrote:

Hi, I'm new to the group and have taken synthroid for years. My issue is weight

gain,no matter what diet i've tried I lose 10 lbs and that's it the scale

doesn't budge after that. Is there any supplements that would be helpful or

perhaps iodine drops? How many drops a day would a person take? Thanks

Remember the old anti-drug abuse public service commercial, ended with " Why do

you think they call it DOPE, kid? " ,.....

Well, Why do you think they call it Synthcrap, kid?

Snythcrap does a very good job of changing your TSH test results, but does

little/nothing to change your hypo symptoms. You can follow the guidance on this

group, and give your thyroid the iodine it needs, in opes that it will start

working again, and supply your body with the thyroid hormones it needs. You can

go on other groups, and learn about using Natural Thyroid hormone, to (also)

give your body the thyroid hormones it needs.Or, you can even get a T3

medication, to take with or instead of your synthcrap. At least then your cells

would be working at the rate they are supposed to, and unless you have insulin

resistance or diabetes type problems, the weight should go.

If your thinking of discussing any of this with your endochrinologist, Good

Luck, cause,...:Why do you think I call them Endholes, kid? " Jim

But without the doctors I would have never

known my thyroid had a problem so not taking them out of the picture. Will

look more into iodine once it becomes available again but it might be awhile.

Well, iodine is a natural substance which your whole body needs (like

food), so it addresses more problems than just your thyroid. Synthroid is an

artificial substance which many people report leaves them feeling like crap

& doesn't really resolve the thyroid problem. Iodine can be had without a

prescription, & you can adjust the dose to suit you; Synthroid, you have to

deal with doctors.

Iodine is needed for more than the thyroid. That is one of the biggest misconceptions. Every gland and mucosal lining needs iodine or iodide. It can be found in every cell. It is cancer protective. Yes you will need to take iodine for the rest of your life.

J Crows still has it in stock. They have 1oz 5% (only allowed, by law, to by one

at a time...stupid law) and 2 oz 2%. Yesterday I was able to order the 16 oz

size, but they're now out of stock. Potential radiation fall-out or not, your

body still needs iodine, and it will do your body good. It's changed my life. I

was so sickly, but I feel like I have my life back now.
