With that racing heart, can you get some thyroid labs right away? You could be

overdosed on thyroid hormones, as iodine often reduces the need for thyroid

meds. Opinions differ on this, but I suspect you are also taking way too much T3

relative to T4, since Erfa is quite high in T3 and Cytomel is pure T3. With some

experimentation, preferably with the help of an open-minded, careful doc, you

can figure out what works best for you. Too much thyroid hormone, or the wrong

balance of T3 and T4, can be as bad as not enough. With heart symptoms, I would

at the very least make sure lab tests are not too far out of range.

Sorry, I must have confused hers with another post. Obviously without heart

symptoms there's much less reason for concern, though it still seems possible

that she's become overdosed overall or she's overdosed on T3 specifically. I

agree with you that one bad night isn't much to go on.

My concern about this comes from my own experience, since my thyroid med

requirement has halved, and still dropping, since starting Iodoral. I

periodically feel very overdosed, confirmed by lab tests, so we have continually

decreased my meds. Apparently most people don't have this very positive result

of iodine supplementation, but as you know many do.

I do wonder why some hypothyroidism does not respond. This is all very complex,

apparently, with numerous factors in play.

Relatively new here and am wondering what your original thyroid dose was

and what it's gone to now that you're doing the Iodoral?

Hi , I was up to 8 60mg of efra a day plus 50mcg of cytomel. I started 3

months ago taking 12.5 mg of iodoral and now I am up to 50mg. I dropped my erfa

to 5 a day from 8 a day. I am still at the same level of cytomel. I take so

much efra as I am prone to bowel impactions, but I have cut back on the

laxatives as well which is a fabulous bonus so overall I am feeling a million

times better with the iodoral.

And I do take metropolol for a slightly high pusle and slightly high BP. 75mg of

that drug too. Maybe someone saw me post on the RT3 that I take beta blockers.

Don't have a racing heart with the BB, would rather get off of them but right

now I am very happy with the progress I am making on iodoral.

Am going to see either Dr Gage in NYC or Dr. Browenstein in Brooklyn/Hicksville

as I do not have a doctor to treat me. I used Dr. Lindner in PA and I was not

happy with him. If anyone has an opinion on Gage or Browenstein please email me

either privately or on this site. I would appreciate any/all feedback about

these docotors.

Thank you

Dorie

Dorie,You may be experiencing detox symptoms, so trying salt loading might be a better option first. It is never a good idea to just stop your medication cold turkey. Maybe cut back a little bit, but really the iodine is not a replacement for your meds, but helps your body heal to maybe not need them eventually. I have been taking iodine for 2 years, and still need all the thyroid meds I was taking. Donna in IL Please someone tell me what to do, I don't want to take erfa and cytomel for a few days - will that level me out?Sorry I am just in a panick with the iodoral kicking in and making me feel a bit hyper last nite. No sleep, lots of urinating. Thanks for any advice from moderators or experienced iodine experts.Dorie>> Hi I have been slowly over 3 months been increasing iodoral to 50mg a day, broken up in 2 doses.> > I have been feeling a lot better, stronger and I am now losing the water weight that I gained over the past 10 years being hypo, gained about 30 lbs of only water wt.> > I read that when iodoral kicks in it kicks in fast.
