Guest guest
Rich, Thanks for the info. Since I have had CFS for the last 30 years, I googled as suggested. It may be that this is, finally, the real cause of CFS -- but I'm not holding my breath for that outcome. There have been so many "sightings" of the "criminal" in the past, and among the papers I read was this http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0008519 from the UK, where they did not find this virus to be linked in CFS or in prostrate cancer patients. Meanwhile, I am hugely improved from my early days with the disease -- when I didn't have the strength to brush my teeth. I actually teach Tai Chi now. That's because I have spent most of the past decade devoted to alternative health measures. I hope to be still further along in terms of strength and health from the iodine protocol. Ultimately, I don't feel that science -- where the hope is always for some new drug -- is likely to provide an answer for me. I see the alternative measures -- which work for the overall, systemic health of the body -- as holding the most promise for me. Guest guest
hear hear, ! I was close to needing a wheelchair when the fibromyalgia came down on me. I was not willing to go that route without a fight, nor was I willing to take antidepressants (the only treatment my doctor could offer at the time) and I got really good nutritional advice and acupunture. For 10 years, 5HTP, NAC, and solid general nutrition kept me going, until finally a couple of years of unrelenting stress resulted in a health breakdown. I started looking for solutions, and found LDN which has been crucial, and then found iodine protocol, which has made all the difference and is actually correcting my deficiencies. They have never found the same pathogen in all persons with CFS or Fibro and I do not believe these diseases are caused by a pathogen. I think they are the result of environmental toxicity combined with severe systematic nutritional lacks (demineralization of the soil a big factor), genetics, and other environmental factors. Treating it as an immune system weakness has been the solution for me. And, people with immune system weakness are especially vulnerable to opportunistic infections, which is what I believe they are finding when they think they have found the causative pathogen. Many humans coexist with these various proposed pathogens with no trouble-- it's only when your immune system is out of whack that these things then take hold. best wishes, -- >Rich, > >Thanks for the info. Yes, this is exactly how I see it. And I think that we always have the ability to restore our immune system. Our bodies are so amazing! On 1/3/2011 12:03 PM, Baker wrote: hear hear, ! Guest guest
For what it is worth, I suspect that the furor about XMRV is inflated & misdirected. The work is all being done on it based on previous work on HIV -- much of which was falsified or poorly done. Some authorities believe that XMRV is merely an opportunistic infection that occurs when the immune system is impaired, & is not all that serious in itself. If you boost the immune system, it can handle XMRV. (In fact, one of the primary researchers on HIV from Paris now says the same thing about HIV -- that a healthy immune system can easily defeat it, & that it is not HIV itself, but the underlying immune dysfunction that kills people.)Iodine is known to kill many pathogenic organisms, but as far as I know, no specific research has been done on XMRV. It's a good idea to take your iodine, but I would also focus on boosting the immune system, & not worry about XMRV specifically.AnneOn Mar 19, 2011, at 4:45 AM, a Bockfeld wrote: Is there any information about experiences with iodine and "XMRV positive"? thanks, a > > >> > > >> > > >>These treatments are all wonderful, but are you keeping up with the > > >>current information regarding the probable "cause" of the problem > > >>pathogen labeled the retro-virus XMRV! Guest guest
Many thanks for your feedback. I share your view that more than one factor exist that can cause CFS. a > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > > >>These treatments are all wonderful, but are you keeping up with the > > > > >>current information regarding the probable " cause " of the problem > > > > >>pathogen labeled the retro-virus XMRV!
