Guest guest
The same thing happened to me and the only thing I can really think of is that the toxins it released wreaked havoc on my adrenals and caused the weight gain. I salted hardly AT ALL and that could have contributed as the chloride i in the salt takes the toxins out. Instead they just circulated in my system :| On the downside of salting (and I'm open to ANY ideas) I tend to really retain fluid when I salt, regardless of how much water I drink with it, which is usually alot. > > I have a friend who just began using iodoral 12.5 mg tablets, 1 tablet a day. She does has not changed anything else recently in her habits except adding coconut oil to her salads, about a spoonful a day. She remains very active and teaches aerobics. She feels good and has lots of energy, but since she started taking the iodine over the last 2 months, she has gained weight. > > Does anyone know why this is happening? > > Thank you for any input you have for me. >
Guest guest
If you go to FILeS, then the New Member Doc, then Commonly Asked Questions, look at # 11, it explains about weight gain while taking iodine. Guest guest
Thanks Kathleen...I've posted it below for other's quick access. If anyone has suggestions on types/brands of calcium I'd be greatful. One I was reading up on was calcium glucarate(sp) that basically detoxes pathways. Not sure if this is what I need but it didn't seem to have a high calcium content. 11. I am gaining weight since starting Iodine. Unfortunately this can occur in those that are very toxic in halides like bromide. If your detoxification pathways are not able to eliminate the toxins being released by iodine then your body will buffer them with water and fat. It may be due, in part, to lowered calcium levels as well as magnesium, vit D, and B Vitamins. All work to maintain balance in the cells and eliminate toxins. > > > > I have a friend who just began using iodoral 12.5 mg tablets, 1 tablet a day. Guest guest
Thinking on the list in the past has been that maybe your liver needs support. If you can't handle the toxins you are releasing, the body stores them in fat. Some people have reversed weight gain by supporting the liver.AnneOn Mar 21, 2011, at 4:06 PM, Yai wrote: I have a friend who just began using iodoral 12.5 mg tablets, 1 tablet a day. Guest guest
I'm leaning there myself. Not sure if I go the route of TLC (what posted recently) or some other avenue. > > > I have a friend who just began using iodoral 12.5 mg tablets, 1 tablet a day. Guest guest
For those who are hypothyroid or may have gallbladder/liver issues, coconut oil can cause weight gain. I would definitely check out liver support. Linn > > > I have a friend who just began using iodoral 12.5 mg tablets, 1 tablet a day.
