I have been detoxing my seven yr old daughter w/ a slew of learning disabilitiesfor about 2 years now, with mostly iodine & supps. She has improved immensly behaviorally in the past year.I feel that 50% of it is from making a developmental leap but the other50% is due to detox of bromide. Next we tackle heavy metals. You can google DAN Doctors in your area, Doctors that heal/cureAutism through detox.Be Well,AliOn Jan 4, 2011, at 11:55 AM, jaxi wrote:Karyn, Sounds like a rough road for you guys. Have you researched LDN (low dose naltrexone)? Dr McCandles (sp) has had very good success with it and autism. Additionally it has good success with gastro issues. For kids with autism she typically recommendas topical application. Please check it out if you get the chance. I am at work right now and do not have the links handy but someone else here might. Iodine can be a tremendous help for thyroid. I am not sure about its role in the other areas mentioned as iodine is a newer for me and I am still learning. I am aware of Dr. Goldstein near Pittsburgh but he will not see kids as young as ours. Also is there info available on DS/autism and how it can help doing iodine supp? Thanks for the input, Karyn

I do not pretend to know much about Autism, but found it extremely interesting

and rewarding when someone told me that their grown

autistic son, who had been pretty violent, completely calmed down

from a very short time on Homozon, which is a product that releases

O1 into the body, which helps detox quickly without alot of scary

side effects. www.theoriginalhomozon.com

I'm not sure how much he used, or how difficult it was to give, as

it isn't an easy product to deal with. It causes a loose stool and

has to be taken on an empty stomach. Lots of things that would seem

to be drawbacks, but his son's response was positive enough that he

felt it was worth working with.

Also love the inspiring stories in Enzymes for Autism and other Neurological

Disorders. Almost miraculous results with enzymes.

Sorry I don't remember the Authors name.

Just dropped into read the new files on iodine and saw this post

and thought I'd reply.

Have a blessed day

Karyn-- I strongly support Jaxi's suggestion. Here is the link to Dr

McCandless's group. She herself has a grandson on the spectrum and

is very actively involved with the group. Highly recommend this:

Autism_LDN/?yguid=337894416

I take LDN for Hashi's and fibromyalgia. But I'm also an adult with ADD

issues and possibly on the (high-functioning end of the) spectrum and LDN

has helped me a lot with concentration and ability to filter out excessive

stimulation. LDN also is excellent with gut issues, so it's all-around

very helpful for autism spectrum. I'm not sure where Dr McCandless stands

on iodine, but the two protocols are very compatible and both are necessary

for me, and esp as your son has thyroid issues arising I would definitely

bring iodine into the picture.

with all best wishes and prayers for you and your son,

There are some good iodine practitioners listed on www.breastcancerchoices.org Not sure how many would be good with children.

The best place to start is the New Members document in the files and to read Dr. Brownstein's book on Iodine www.drbrownstein.com

There is no formal information on DS/Autism. My 7 year old (when my two children were 7) took 12.5 mgs Iodoral Monday through Friday. They also took selenium and vit C.
