Guest guest
Here I sit at 12:30am all itchy and with insomnia. Though never formally diagnosed, I strongly suspect the rash I have had for over a decade is dermatitis herpetiformis, DH. Geez, you'd think the 3+ MDs I had asked about the rash might have had a clue, eh? Starting the iodine protocol kinda helps me confirm it, since the rash is considerably worse with the iodine. I looked through posts from at least a year ago and further back about DH. Wondering if anybody has more recently come up with something since then to make it more tolerable while continuing the iodine protocol? BTW, I was mostly gluten free these last few months, but now have new incentive to root out the hidden gluten sources and 'special event' gluten foods I have allowed myself. I guess with or without an official diagnosis, with DH and autoimmune thyroid issues, I will be eating like a Celiac from here on! Any suggestions for putting up with the iodine aggravated DH are most welcome. I don't intend to give up my iodine, as it seems to be doing some good except for the rash. Praying the DH stays where it is easily hidden by clothing--guess I won't be bearing by mid section in public this summer
Guest guest
You're not eating like a celiac, you ARE one. 1 in 133 people have celiac's disease and doesn't even know it. It damages the villa in the small intestine making your body to absorb anything you put into it.I found out I had celiac's and I fond out at 46 years old. I eat fruit, vegis and meat. Whole foods. Nothing white, packaged, canned or processed. You won't miss a thing if you stick to gluten free. Gluten is in canned soups, gravies, spices, etc. Anything processed is sure to contain gluten.Keep taking the iodine. It has nothing to do with your rash. Your rash would do better being exposed to the air. I have psoriasis and DH and a host of other auto immune diseases. It is like I get one auto disease and now I have a cluster of them. It isn't the end of the world, far from it. from IllinoisFrom: agwinborne <awinborne@...>iodine Sent: Mon, March 28, 2011 12:52:26 AMSubject: Dermatitis Herpetiformis Here I sit at 12:30am all itchy and with insomnia. Guest guest
I had good luck with a product called Ocean Plasma healing rashes. I would also try salt loading. Edible clay can help also. Guest guest
Emu oil is also great for skin and even open skin wounds. Bentonite may help your body to rid some of these toxins through your colon instead of your skin. B complex may also help your system to just work better on detox. Seems to help me that way. I am allergic to sugar and yeast which seems to impact me similarly. Pam On Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 3:01 PM, Linn <mwm1glm@...> wrote: I had good luck with a product called Ocean Plasma healing rashes. Guest guest
Thanks for the ideas folks. The DH has calmed a bit for now and I have increased my Iodoral dose a little. I hope to get some emu oil and edible clay next trip to the health store. It would be nice if the clay reduced the facial blemishes that are becoming more abundant now, ugh. > > > > > > Here I sit at 12:30am all itchy and with insomnia. Guest guest
I have had really good results from Castor oil. It is a little sticky, but I have always had a tendency to break out, and I have started spreading castor oil on any red areas on my face before bed, and my skin is much calmed by morning. It is all I use on blemishes now, and it even worked on a painful pimple inside my nose. I use either coconut oil or Eidon MSM/Silica lotion as a moisturizer, and then the castor oil, and my skin is really improving. Beth in MN > > Thanks for the ideas folks.
