Guest guest
Since the liver has to process nutrients and toxins I try to dose the amount of work it has to do. In addition, I feed it turmeric every day to protect it. Since the protocol for supporting nutrients calls for high doses of Vit C, selenium and B2, B3, I am thinking of lowering my daily intake of antioxydents from other sources. Apparently, B3 in doses over a certain amount calls for checking for liver enzymes. For instance, I typically consume an antioxydent formula that contains Grape seed extract, grape skin extract, pine bark extract and resveratrol. I will continue Ubiquinol regardless since I consider it a core nutrient for someone my age. So as I begin the Iodine program I will diminish the amounts of other antioydents and emphasize, that is use the maximum suggested amounts, of the suggested support nutrients. I might even consider taking a break from my daily antioxydent formula to give my liver less to deal with during the Iodine program. Am I making sense ? Guest guest
You are right, start simple is a very smart way to start. Then you can make adjustments as need it. Sometimes breaks are necessary. Guest guest
-- Antioxidants each work in slightly different ways. It's up to you what you want to take at any given time, but taking a lot of different antioxidants doesn't lead to liver overworking, far from it, the antioxidants lower the amount of toxins in the body that the liver has to process out. Antioxidants convert free radicals in the body to nontoxic constituents, thus doing the work before anything has to be processed by the liver or kidneys. It's the free radicals that do damage. Antioxidants detoxify the body, but they protect the body, not put a burden on it. Other things, like iodine for example, do release toxins that the liver has to process. That is part of why we need to take selenium with the iodine protocol-- the selenium is an antioxidant that lowers the number of toxins that the liver has to process. -- At 09:50 AM 1/1/2011, you wrote: >Since the liver has to process nutrients and toxins I try to dose the >amount of work it has to do.
