Guest guest
<< I was not on any HC at the time I started Iodoral.>> What is HC? Is it corisol? I am just new to this and I am considering starting Lugols. I have no idea how much to start taking. I am also on Levoxil and would love to not be taking anything synthetic. Do others take their medication while starting on iodine? How do you know when to stop taking it? Is it based on testing your thyroid levels again? I also started on the supplements (Selenium, Vitamin C, B vitamins, L Tyrosine, magnesium..) as well as salt, but I wanted to find out what HC is and find out if I needed to take that as well. I did read through the documents, but I don’t recall seeing that on there. I’m also a little nervous after reading the various posts about what can happen after starting iodine. Is that very common? I have been taking kelp just this past month and read that it can contain heavy metals. That is one of the reasons I want to start on Lugols. Also, do I need to have my iodine levels tested before beginning (though I already started on kelp)? I want to be sure to take the minimum amount to begin with. Any advice would be wonderful! J PS. I know Tammy what you mean about being a little bit older having babies! I just had my fourth a little over three years ago (all about 2 years apart) and I am 46 now – still ovulating though – just shorter luteal phases now which I believe are due to thyroid. Thank you! Lori Re: congested liver and iodine , I was not on any HC at the time I started Iodoral. I actually didn't know I had adrenal fatigue/hypothyroidism because I had just had a baby that April before it happened to me in July. I thought I was just " tired " and I am 37 having my 3rd baby after all lol. It was the iodine that led me to find out why my body could not handle it. I was not a member of this group yet, just trusting a friend's recommendation to take some because it is healthy, etc... we are all deficient, etc... She neglected to tell me about bromism, I guess because she had no idea I was so toxic! I am very thankful now of coarse, but as far as my detox effects, someone else asked....so here are some details: I didn't know about salt loading or any of the supporting nutrients so nothing was on board. I thought I was going to die! I called my friend Pat (love you!) and she got on here and started asking what should I do. The side effects didn't start happening to me until that night or even worse the next couple of days. I had severe blurry vision, like something was in my eyes. I thought I was on another planet or something, I don't know how I drove. Now I know that was " brain fog " . There was a nasty metal taste in my mouth and other side effects like bad sensitivity to light. Anyway, all my Mom had at her house was Vitamin C and epsom salt and iodized salt. I salt loaded and took C and made several trips to the bathroom! It took me several DAYS to get over it and I didn't try again with the Iodoral until a month or so later when I figured all of this out and had the supporting nutrients, etc... I didn't have HC until a couple of weeks after I started the Iodoral again. It wasn't pretty as I said, but when I did start the doctor gave me cortisone acetate (which I hear is not as good) and only 10 mg. But anyway, I am at 20-30 mg of cortisol now and doing a lot better. Still, it is taking a while, but I am just thankful because there are so many people who are suffering with this disease process and do not even know it. That is why I am more than happy to share what has happened to me. I know a lot of my friends and family believe me, it's the ones who do not that I commit to praying for. God just has to open their eyes like He does about everything! I pray you will find the right thing to do and that the Lord will heal you in His good time. Guest guest
Hi Lori, Yes, HC is cortisol. I actually am on cortisone acetate which I hear is not as good as actual HC, and apparently more expensive too. I have to take cortisol because I have adrenal issues. You can do a saliva test to check your cortisol levels to see if you need it. Have you been on Synthroid for a long time? If so, you are at least in mild adrenal fatigue, I would guess. Have you looked into natural thyroid hormone (Armour, NatureThyroid)? I'm sorry I'm not experienced with Synthroid, and am also very new to Armour myself. Maybe someone can answer about when to go off of it. I do have a friend that was able to increase her iodine to 150 mg and didn't need her Armour. You are right about the kelp, and Lugol's or Iodoral is going to be better for you. You are definitely in the right place!! Are you also checking into the supporting the nutrients you need to take while on iodine? You need Vitamin C, Selenium, Magnesium, and optional ATP co factors to help with detox........and at least 1/2 tsp Celtic sea salt (make sure it is unrefined, not white, ok!) All the best to you, Tammy > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello and happy new year to all, > > > > > > I am on NTH and HC(trying to lower from 40) but not iodine (yet) > and have > > > > > > suspected for a while now I might have a congested liver and am > also > > > > > > recently experienced edema 2 x's (stopped my sea salt and it went > away) so > > > > > > not sure if kidney issue too. > > > > > > As iodine detoxes would it be advisable for me to make sure that I > my liver > > > > > > is optimium as well as my kidneys before I start. > > > > > > > > > > > > tx > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Tammy, Thank you for all the information! I’ve been on Levoxil for a little over a year, but I don’t think it’s been helping very much. Just today, I located a doctor who will prescribe Natures Thyroid. Yay! I would have gone on Armour originally, but when I thought I found the right doctor (she was an hour away), she would not prescribe it for me. I ended up just staying on the Levoxil because at the time Armour was hard to come by and I just didn’t know who to go see. Can I start on Lugols right away and continue to take Levoxil until I have my thyroid levels checked again in a few weeks? I will also have my adrenals tested at the same time. I found a great naturopath not too far away from me. J If so, how much Lugols do I begin with? I am taking everything except the ATP co-factors. Do I need that right away? The salt I am taking is the Himalayan salt. Where do you purchase ATP Co-factors? I can also google it. Maybe they have it locally. I try to find supplements for the best price if I can. Sorry for so many questions, but I just want to be certain to do the right thing! Thank you so much Tammy!! Guest guest
Hi Lori, I just want to apologize for not responding sooner...... I hope you have already started! I wanted to tell you how I had my Mom get started with Lugol's. She had been on Levoxyl for over 12 years, and is finally on Armour, praise the Lord. Anyway, she would take one drop in water (it doesn't taste the greatest which is why people take Iodoral). And she would do that for a few days until she had no headache, then take two, then three, etc, etc.....when she got up there with the drops she started taking the tablet form (Iodoral). has told us about her wonderful success with applying Lugol's topically, so you might search the files about that. If I remember I put it on places I want to disappear like bumps or whatever. But the Iodoral is working internally for me and things externally are disappearing, ha ha!!! Amazon has ATP cofactors for $16.00. I have also ordered from Natural Healthy Concepts. http://www.amazon.com/ATP-Cofactors-90-Tablets-Brand/dp/B002D9DFQ2 I just actually upped my dose from one tablet a day to three and I saw a BIG energy increase the first couple of days that I did that.......so, if you are struggling with detox, ATP isn't so expensive that you might give it a try and see how it works for you also. Take care, and let us know how your progress goes! You are blessed to believe in taking iodine, Lori. Many do not. I hope your health is improved by it.
