Guest guest
Bea, Type DMSO in the search box on this forum for some recent posts on this and also earlier dialogue. Also perhaps a search for 'transdermal' or 'Lugol's topical' for prior conversations. One forum contributor, , has considerable experience using Lugol's topically and you could do a search with her name as well. Refer to Section 9 of the New Member Document which is located in the Files and be sure to open and read the link. > > I was just wondering if one used Lugol's transdermally and applied DMSO on top---that would increase the absorption considerably would it not? > I would be much happier using transdermal for radioctive iodine uptake prevention than taking it internally---but how could one figure out the dosage? Any thoughts on this? > > Thanks much > Bea >
Guest guest
Personally, I think it would be a waste of DMSO.DMSO is great for taking things which aren't normally absorbed thru the skin, and carrying them in. Iodine IS readily absorbed thru the skin, so even for protection from radioactive iodine, I think its better to save the DMSO for other things. There is a DMSO group, to learn more about it. > > I was just wondering if one used Lugol's transdermally and applied DMSO on top---that would increase the absorption considerably would it not? > I would be much happier using transdermal for radioctive iodine uptake prevention than taking it internally---but how could one figure out the dosage? Guest guest
There can be significant evaporation of iodine applied directly to the skin as per the research documents: http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/updates/UNIOD-02/UNIOD_02.htm. Though that doesn't mean that it makes the case to use DMSO. Several people have used coconut oil, castor oil, etc... to help reduce the possibility of evaporation, and others have queried if DMSO would help with deeper penetration or more specific penetration. > > > > I was just wondering if one used Lugol's transdermally and applied DMSO on top---that would increase the absorption considerably would it not? > > I would be much happier using transdermal for radioctive iodine uptake prevention than taking it internally---but how could one figure out the dosage?
