Guest guest
,I had flat lined adrenals and 9 illnesses when I started 3 years back. My adrenals improved and my thyroid supported by armour at 4 grains so that is improved. I started with 1 pill and added a pill each week until 4 pills. I switched to lugols recently for cost and am finally trying 100 mg. My liver is healthy now and kidneys too. I know my body works much better. Salt, magnesium, vitamin C and b complex all help the process. Have never had much of detox symptoms and hope you fair as well. In 4-5 months the breast lumps were gone so maybe your body will give you clues as you heal. I have also lost 80 pounds and 3 of the diseases are gone and 3 maintained by supplements. I just finished reading Dr. Brownstein's Iodine book (in 3 days!) and I am excited to get started on it. I ordered Iodoral on Sunday and was hoping it would be here by today, but it's not . Oh well, onto next week! I ordered the 12.5 mg - 180 tablets. I know he said in his book he puts people on anywhere from 12.5 to 50 unless cancer or something like that. Should I do the 12.5mg to make sure I do not have an allergy first? I have hashi's so I believe he had recommended the top end of his recommendation.....thoughts, advice? Thank you so much!! Guest guest
-- There really isn't such a thing as an iodine allergy. Allergies occur because of proteins that stimulate an immune reaction. Minerals don't have any proteins to react to. But I also started gradually like Pam describes. It's really up to you. I think it's always safe to gradually increase. If people are dealing with cancer, we suggest jumping in at a high level just because time is of the essence. Hashi's, it's probably best to ease into it. -- At 04:53 PM 1/21/2011, you wrote: >, > >I had flat lined adrenals and 9 illnesses when I started 3 years back. Guest guest
There is no such thing as allergy to iodine. What people experience is detoxing and that doesn't happen with everyone. For some lower doses bother them more than higher ones. Hashi's seem to do better at the upper end of the ranges. You have to play with your dose if you are scared to start higher. There are no right answers as we are all different. Just finished Iodine by Dr. Brownstein/Ordered Iodoral - Excited to start Hi all, I've been lurking here for the last month and a half. Guest guest
, I've been on a similar path. I'm a few steps behind you, though -- I just found this forum. How much T3 are you taking? Is your TSH pretty close to zero? Please keep in touch and let me know how you fare and whether you do any thyroid lab tests (esp. antibodies) as you proceed. I've not read the book yet, just the excerpt that was sent to me explaining the mechanism by which low iodine levels damage TPO. Between that and what Steph said, I'm suspecting that low doses could aggravate Hashi's (unless TSH is still completely suppressed??), which has been the experience of many patients on the T3 and NTH forums. So unless there is enough iodine, TPO will still be damaged and the immune system will still produce antibodies. Steph, am I understanding this correctly? > > Hi all, I've been lurking here for the last month and a half. I've had a host of issues to study and learn about. Guest guest
(or anyone), what does Dr. Brownstein say about dosing for Hashi's patients? And does he recommend suppressing TSH with thyroid meds before starting iodine?? Dosing T3 is quite tricky. I know that low iron is a deal breaker. I don't know about high iron. Poor adrenal response (not enough cortisol) also creates problems. Are you on the T3 forum? They can help. > > > > > > Hi all, I've been lurking here for the last month and a half.
