Guest guest
Corry, Some of what I write below may run counter to what the even the "iodine" doctors believe and what others on this forum may believe. I am simply sharing my ongoing experience here and my interpretation of that experience. It may or may not be helpful to you. I began the iodine therapy about six months ago using Lugol's by mouth. As time went by I continually raised the dosage and added topical applications, first with coconut oil and then with castor oil. Not long ago, I stopped taking Lugol's by mouth and now I rely completely on transdermal applications: 100 mg, mixed with about 1 t of castor oil. On Tuesday morning, I apply the mixture to my feet/legs and arms. On Thursday morning I apply it to my torso ( liver and stomach area down to my intestines) and to my arms. On Saturday, I apply it to my face and my arms. The arms -- and the backs of my hands -- get the most attention because of a long-standing and advanced case of actinic keratosis (sun damage which can lead to cancer). Re: my arms and hands. These look quite normal now. I have only one very small -- about 1/16" -- lesion now and that is fast fading. I am so happy and relieved about this. Re: my legs and feet. No noticeable effect here, but about the only long-time problem in this area has been a loss of hair which I associate with aging and impaired circulation. The slight puffiness around my ankles is gone. Maybe someday the hair will be back. Re: my torso. I am quite thin, but for more years than I can remember, have been unhappy about my protruding belly. The circle of fat over the center of my torso is now about half of what it once was and the surrounding area is quite flat. Re: my face. I have struggled all my life, first with acne and then with cea. Now I get many compliments on the color and texture of my complexion. The underlying infections --sinus, bletharitis, swollen tongue -- seem to be healing. I believe using oil may keep the Lugol's from evaporating, and using castor oil is especially helpful in pulling the iodine deep into the body. A couple of days ago, I forgot the morning application to my torso. I made the mistake of using it around 5 or 6 that night. The result was a troubled stomach (the kind I used to get when ingesting Lugol's) and a wired brain that kept me from the deep sleep I have begun to enjoy. I'm quite sure the Lugols on my skin went very deep, well below my skin, and was very well spread. I know it can be confusing to hear different opinions, but I think in the long run, the more info we have to consider, the better. Then all we have to do is figure out what is best for us as individuals. Good luck. I was doing it everyday for awhile and at first it would disappear within 5 hours or so and then it stayed for 12, but at that point I stopped for awhile because I had broken out a bit on my face. I guess maybe detoxification. I actually feel more affects from it on my skin than taking it orally in drops. I am freezing cold all the time and low temperature, and when I put it on my skin I warm up and my temperature rises. I have been told that is the best way to take it and the opposite, that it isn't accurate and the skin uses most of it. I went to a naturopath recently and got a thyroid blood test, but he told me my thyroid was normal and didn't even take my temperature even though I told him it was very low. He didn't look at any of my other signs or symptoms. He told me I could take lugol's a drop a day, if it made me feel better, but he said skin application of Lugol's could cause transdermal something, osis maybe, I can't remember exactly what it was. I just started reading Dr. Brownstein's books on iodine and thyroid disorders, very interesting books and he seems to look at all different symptoms including low temperature, but he doesn't seem to recommend iodine on the skin. IF anyone has any experience or advice with this it would be great. Thanks. Corry
Guest guest
Interesting, thank you so much for sharing that . Dr D C Jarvis did write something about skin application. Also, on Earthclinic the iodine section talks about how to stagger the applications to allow your system to adapt. I am new to all this, btw. So its always interesting to hear about what posters have been doing. I will definitely try the Iodoral as well since hearing a radio show featuring Dr Fleshas. Guest guest
Thanks , I'll keep this in mind. how much castor oil do you mix with the lugols? and then do you keep them mixed together in a bottle. Or do you only mix them before applying? For me it seems to make me feel the best when I apply it to my skin, and it warms my hands and feet up within 10 minutes, but it must detox too because I broke out at one time and had to stop for a few days. Then I guess sea salt should work for that. When I was told about it the instructions were: to paint a 3 inch square on stomach or thigh and everytime it disappears to apply more. Then when it is still there within 24 hours stop and try again in a 1 month. If it is there in 24 hours you have enough for proper thyroid function. So the whole idea is to keep doing it until it is still there 24 hours later. I was at the 12 h point in about a week, but then stopped because I wasn't sure about it. Guest guest
My husband swears by it this way... also e does a large patch.. When you get a runny nose that is when you stop. Resume after a little while. He has a low temputure all the time... Also He is taking chemo for Leukemia and his toes got so cold like little ice cubes. He applied iodine to his stomach as usual and within 45 minutes it was gone.. If it comes back he just uses the iodine and presto it is gone~> > > > > HI everyone,> > I keep hearing different opinions about> iodine and how> much it is absorbed through the skin to> determine amount> of definciency. Guest guest
Corry, I use about 1 t of oil to 16 drops (100 mg) of Lugol's 5%. Also, I forgot to mention I've been using a little bit vaginally for candida, and in my right ear where I have hearing loss. Oh, and -- as I think I posted recently -- on my "buffalo hump". The instructions you repeat assume that the apparent speed of uptake (disappearance on the skin) is indicative of the body's need. I don't believe the absorption of topical iodine (which is affected by a number of different things) is a helpful indicator of whether or not you need iodine. If you are living in an industrialized "first world country" you probably need a great deal of iodine, on a frequent basis, to protect you from exposure to toxins -- regardless of how quickly, or slowly, a particular part of your body may seem to absorb it. I, too, feel warmed by iodine for a while after application. Guest guest
, What was your reasoning for going to this method? Thanks, Joan > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > HI everyone, > > > > > > I keep hearing different opinions about > > > iodine and how > > > much it is absorbed through the skin to > > > determine amount > > > of definciency.
