Under arm temps first thing in the morning before rising should be 97.8 or higher.

Two year old's temps

I took my two year old's temperature today, but I had to use his armpit with my basal body thermometer. Do I need to add a degree to this or is it accurate as is? His temp was 98.29. So if that is accurate, does that mean he's hypo, OR if I have to add a degree, does that mean something else, hyper or normal? I've been giving him one drop of Lugol's 2% every morning for a few days and wonder, if I should stop? His hair test said he had elevated iodine, not sure how accurate that is. Andy Cutler's interpretation of the hair test says it is an accurate assessment of body stores.

It may not be easy to get before rising temps from him since he is in a crib and

wakes us by rising before us. We hear him in the monitor. Would it be ok if he

is awake laying in bed and I take the temp when I go get him? He sometimes

stays laying down and just sings or talks until we get him.

So 97.8 under the armpit, would that equate to 98.8 in the mouth then? Am I

adding a degree to it?

Thanks

Yes on all questions. You just don't want them up and running around.
