Guest guest
On my 2 oz bottle, it shows the following: Distilled water 94% Potassium Iodide 4% Iodine 2% On the bottle, it has printed JR Crow’s Lugol’s Solution 2%. I had purchased it at Swansons. I am just curious if all Lugol’s solution is broken down this way? Are there different ones out there? I would imagine I should be using the amount of drops below based on the 2% solution. Thank you! Lori Re: Re: Lugol's Trans-dermally >8 drops = 50mg This is only true if the Lugol's is 5%. So that can never just be the answer, it has to be qualified by the percentage strength of the Lugol's. Here are some more numbers: 2 drops of 2% lugol's = 5mg 5 drops of 2% lugol's = 12.5mg 6 drops of 2% lugol's = 15mg 8 drops of 2% lugol's = 20mg 2 drops of 5% lugol's = 12.5mg 8 drops of 5% lugol's = 50mg > > > > > How many drops of Lugols would that be equivalent to? Guest guest
Lori, In Lugol's, the RATIO of potassium iodide to iodine is always the same: two parts potassium iodide to one part iodine. It may read 4 to 2 or it may read 10 to 5 depending on how much water is added. The amount of water (which dilutes potency) is what determines whether the overall solution is called 2% or 5% or anything else.
