Guest guest
We are an iodine group, although most of us do take NTH. I think you will get more expert advice from the Natural Thyroid Hormone Group; here is the link; NaturalThyroidHormones/ However, from what I know, 30 mg is a very low dose of thyroid hormone, and when beginning thyroid its best to take it for two weeks and then up the dose to 60 mg, etc. ( You can read how to do this at www.stopthethyroidmadness.com ). TSH is not a good indicator of thyroid function. Most people feel best with their Free's in the upper third of the range. Your FT3 should be higher and your FT4 is wayyyyy too low. Also, one should stop taking thyroid hormone at least 12 to 14 hours before the blood draw for the thyroid tests the following morning. For example, if you are having blood drawn at 8 am, one would take their thyroid hormone no later than 8 pm the night before. Again, it would be good for you to join the NaturalThyroid Hormone Group as they are very well versed in this subject. Best, Kathleen Please Help me with my Confusing labs! I just got my labs back from being on 30 mg armour for 23 days. And I changed to a new doctor. My new labs are TSH .04 (.45 - 4.5) FT3 3.3 (2.0 - 4.4)and FT4 .08 (.82 - 1.77). Doc says the TSH shows hyper and FT3 is perfect. He wanted to reduce my Armour but I asked to increase to 45 for a month and re-test. My symptoms are not gettign better. What's going on?? Also he insisted that drawing blood 4 hours after taking my Armour would be ideal to see where I really am. I questioned it but he seemed certain. Please help. Thsi is my 3rd doctor and $1000 spent. Guest guest
Thank you Kathleen, I am alreay a member of the NTH group and am waiting for their input too. (I also cannot get my iodine levels up. Been on liquid Pot. Iodide for a month. Will get that lab back on Tuesday.) I know and agree with increasing dosing like you said. Can't get the doctor to agree to this. I have burning scalp with hairloss along with the other common hypo symptoms. Scalp pain seems a mystery to most doctors but I knwo a few people that have this symptom. Have you heard of it. Thank you again for your reply and taking the time. If anyone knows a good Doctor that doesn't focu son TSH in the Ft. Worth TX area, please let me know. Susie
Guest guest
If you are only taking Liquid Potassium Iodide then you may never increase iodine levels. You need to be taking Lugol's or Iodoral to make progress. Dr Brownstein has talked about issues with using higher and higher doses of KI and never seeing any benefits. The lab test you should use for determining iodine status is the one from Hakala labs - www.hakalalabs.com It is called the 24 hour Loading with Bromide level (you need this to determine if your saturation is correct as bromide blocks receptors for iodine and artificially elevates the saturation levels). You can order this on your own w/o a doctor. You can check out the practitioner list on www.breastcancerchoices.org to see if there is a doctor there. Guest guest
Susiie,Scalp pain/burning along with hair loss can be toxins accumulating from candida/leaky gut. Candida and leaky gut also affect the thyroid and cause hypo symptoms. My TSH weas not high, but I did have antibodies. I went to a naturopath (www.naturopathic.org) and by doing an elimination diet, selected supplements and ongoing diet modifications I have lowered my antibodies rebuilt my gut bacteria, regrown my hair, etc. Not being able to get your levels up is a red flag for malabsorption as well.sincerelySJoaniodine From: smweertman@...Date: Sun, 10 Apr 2011 13:03:34 +0000Subject: Re: Please Help me with my Confusing labs!
