Guest guest
I am not great with cortisol issues but if it were me I would try an adrenal glandular and take it in the morning and at night. I used Biotics Research Cytozyme AD and it worked well for me. I also took 6,000 mgs Vit C in a buffered formula that contained MG, K, Ca as well. I also took 1/2 - 1 tsp Celtic Salt. When I felt stressed I would take salt and the Buffered C and it would calm my heart rate down. Headaches can be a sign of adrenal fatigue. Buist, ND Confused and need some guidance, please. Could someone please help me figure this out? I had been on HC for a year. My doctor asked me to wean off. I have been off 6 weeks. Week #4 of wean I started getting ocular migraines and waking up in the morning btwn 330am-430am with low blood sugar (heart pounding, sweating, shaking). Here are my last cortisol levels (no HC for 5 weeks):Cortisol:Morning 4.2 (3.7-9.5)Noon 3.7 H (1.2-3.0)Evening 2.5H (0.6-1.9)Night 0.5 (0.4-1.0)Do I need to go back on cortisol? I need my sleep. My doctor said I no longer need it. I am miserable. Is there something other than cortisol that I could take? I was also told my adrenals are not 'strong enough' to start taking iodine. Would it help this situation? Lori
Guest guest
- thank you. Is there any way you could share the vitamin c product? I am thinking I need to nourish the adrenals so when I come off HC I don't do this again... I was looking for a glandular, as well. I did not know that headaches are a sign- thanks again! I was feeling " bad " because I have to use cortisol, etc.. I know - that is silly but I think the estrogen dominance with an allergy to progesterone is not helping.. Guest guest
You could try future formulations adrenal rebuilder from Dr. . It is the adrenal cell extracts without the hormones. I am taking it and it is helping my adrenals. It stabilized my temps fairly quickly, but going back on iodine has lowered my temps somewhat. You can do a google search to find which site is cheapest, but I bought mine from yourwaytowellness.com and they have free shipping for this product. Also, Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) helps support the adrenal glands. You might want to check out Dr. 's website (adrenalfatigue.org) for more information or read his book. Guest guest
Are you verifying that the middle of the night symptoms are low blood sugar with a glucose meter? Iodine helped me enormously with my adrenal issues. I would keep the dose smaller though to start, maybe 1-3 mgs and build up from there. You may find the iodine helps greatly with the sleep issue. I would also suggest to add in amino acids, you can find several good sources, I've found that undenatured whey is the best choice, True Whey or Steph recommends using Metagenics Ultra Clear which I've tried also and really liked the results. Magnesium is an absolute must and lots of Vit C, both several times a time. Are you taking these now, if so, how much? Also the salt is vital to the mix. What type are you using? From your tests, it looks like you could use a little help in the mornings. Have you tried Isocort instead of HC? Personally since you've managed to get off the HC, I would try other means first, you may just be low in amino acids or other minerals which could remedy the problem. I've found that ocular headaches are related to potassium deficiency for myself. Linn > > Could someone please help me figure this out? > > I had been on HC for a year. Guest guest
Lori FWIW...I finally got on thyroid meds, T3 (Cytomel) and my intractable insomnia (at one time I was on an ad and 2 rx sleep meds and still was not sleeping well) is pretty much gone...and it's only been three weeks. Just a thought. Have you had your thyroid checked? Jaye > > > > Could someone please help me figure this out? > > > > I had been on HC for a year. My doctor asked me to wean off. Guest guest
Ariel, It varies with everyone. Some people find that early on they are able to reduce thyroid meds, some never do. Steph relates that Dr. B has about a third of his patients who are able to discontinue thyroid meds from iodine supplementation. I was able to reduce my thyroid meds by a large amount, but not quickly, it has been over a long period of time and with the use of other supplements. I do think it may have a lot to do with healing and detoxing for me. Caution should be observed though with the reduction of thyroid meds and it would be prudent to have periodic testing to correlate. Guest guest
I " m not big on prescriptions but I see thyroid meds as hormone replacement! I'm also taking iodine since December. Does not help my sleep and didn't seem to do much for my thyroid...or maybe I'd been worse without it. I do feel better when I " m on it. As for TSH, iodine has been known to raise it temporarily, if I understand. That may be what finally got doc to move on getting me thyroid meds. Not complaining. I have stopped LDN (for now anyway) as it was not helping my sleep or much of anything else that I could notice.
