Guest guest
Curly hair and straight hair is determined by the shape of your hair follicles. Body chemistry, genetics and hormones all play a part in curly or straight hair.No one really knows exactly how it works but they do know that these three things have an affect on hair shape. I was once told (and I have no idea if it's actually true) that hormones can affect hair curliness. Since I've been treating adrenals and, I guess thyroid (with Lugol's) my hair also seems to have become much curlier. I hadn't actually made the connecting concretely until I read this post! Guest guest
My hair was straight when I was a kid -- a sad fact my mother fought valiantly with many a revolting home permanent. (I didn't particularly WANT curly hair, & I REALLY didn't want those gaggy permanents! I cringe at my school pictures, in which my hair is crimped in dorky fake curls -- the same pictures my mother used to regard with such pride. Ah, well...) At the age of 12, when I hit puberty, my hair suddenly went very frizzy -- curly, but not in a good way. Since I started iodine, I don't see any difference in the amount of curl. However, my hair was getting old lady thin, & shorter by the year. (Because of the frizz, I have worn it long to pull the frizz down. I hadn't had a trim in a long time, because I used to get it trimmed when it started tickling my butt, & it was looking like it would never get within a foot of my butt again.) I was on track to be one of those little old ladies with a thin dandelion puff of hair & a lot of pink scalp showing through. However, since I started taking iodine, it has grown about 10 inches, & has become less sparse. I'll never have a thick mane, but I now have hope of not going completely bald in my old age.AnneOn Apr 11, 2011, at 9:06 PM, Cole wrote: gosh I hope that happens to me ;)On Mon, Apr 11, 2011 at 7:22 PM, Becky D <rnrsq@...> wrote: Hair hair went from board straight to curly after starting lugols Beck D From: iodine [mailto:iodine ] On Behalf Of jprocure@... Guest guest
Taking pregnenolone and/or DHEA makes my hair soft and straight. When I decrease the doses hair gets hard, dry and unmanageable(I can not call this curly). Actually I use this event to adjust my pregneolone and/or dhea dosage. When hair gets more straight than I used to have before starting adrenal support I lower the dose. when it gets hard and unmanageble I think it is time to increase the dose. just wished to share.nil Re: Curly hair went straight?
